Two different groups touring under the Yes banner. One just Yes and the other Yes featuring ARW (Anderson, Wakeman and Rabin). A bunch of lawyers are getting progressively richer.
last time i saw yes was in 2004 san jose the last tour they ever played with the full classic yes lineup...anderson, howe squire, wakeman, and either bruford or alan white on drums.
it was my first rock show, i was about 12. i went thru all different phases of music between then and now, but eventually wound up right where i began...high art drugbands, live.
it was one of my most formative experiences and i will never forget it. but i have no desire to ever see live yes again. their lyrical content does not jive with their behavior. i always saw squire's band without aderson or wakeman as a bit of a joke, especially with the yes cover band singer, but they were a decent band i guess. and now that squire is gone the ship has sailed imo
I agree - with Squire gone, the ship has sailed. And Steve Howe doesn't look too good either. But the full classic Yes lineup was an incredibly talented band.
if i went to one yeah id of course so to the one with anderson. that seems the obvious choice for any serious yes fan. but at this point id be going mostly for wakeman, i really really love his playing, and as i posted above i am pretty butthurt w jon for not making a greater effort to patch things up with chris...its kinda like the rifts between dead members...yes and the dead were some of the main bands promoting togetherness and community during the 70s and 80's, yes from their lyrics and the dead from its fanbase and culture. and now they cannot even cast aside their differences long enough to play some concerts here and there. it was one thing when anderson was making new music, but now with the 2 yes bands, and how its always been with the dead, is that they are still playing the old music, but cant come together for even a few hours to do so, in great contrast to their philosophy.
The band with Howe is strong but has Allen White on drums, which for a while now has been a deal-breaker for me, so unfortunately I'll skip that one.
Anderson's band is very good and Wakeman is fine, but Wakeman Shwakeman, the quality of that band is all about Jon, and it's better because of a drummer that can push the music.
It's good and Jon is great and worth seeing, but without Chris there is no Yes.

I saw both of these YES bands
I saw both of these YES bands last year.
They were both good, but for YES purist, go with the one with Jon Anderson.
Although the singer in the other band did a nice job and I thought the band was better.
