No cheese in oriental food

Forums:

it just dawned on me that I can’t think of any oriental food that incorporates one of God’s greatest gifts to us, cheese.

WHATS UP WITH THAT?

anyone know?

Korean fried chicken places have menu items covered in cheese.

Haven't tried any of them.

Many East Asians are lactose intolerant.  That's why its not a big part of their traditional cuisines.

That being said, the Mongols and Tibetans use a lot of dairy in their diets.

cheese hits the same receptors in the brain as opioids...

Gouda shit, man.

Crab rangoon ?

>>> That being said, the Mongols and Tibetans use a lot of dairy in their diets. <<<

Isn't most of that yak, waterbuffalo, or mare, not cow?

>>>Crab rangoon ?

forgot about that, nice one.

I also just read this: “In Chinese culture, cheese consumption was historically limited to nomadic tribes living on the fringes of society who were generally viewed as outsiders or barbarians. So back then, eating cheese was associated with an unsavory lifestyle.”

dirty cheese eaters!!!

and is that true about cheese and opioids? I do really like cheese

True

Thanks everybody I think this was my most successful thread ever, post-count wise

Eliminating dairy was the smartest diet change I ever made. That said, I dont eat Chinese food either. Or at least what we pass as Chinese food here in America

In what ways does our Chinese and Chinese in China differ

Crab Rangoon has been on the menu of the "Polynesian-style" restaurant Trader Vic's in San Francisco since at least 1956. Although the appetizer is allegedly derived from an authentic Burmese recipe, the dish was probably invented in the United States.

Alright so crab Rangoon has been exposed as a fraud. Interesting.

Cheese In O.F. ? HA HA HA HA no

Indian food has paneer, cubed farmers cheese.

In Hong Kong they make baked pork chops covered in cheese. Usually over noodles or fried rice with a goopy sauce topped with melted cheese. It looks sort of like chicken parm.

Netflix has a documentary called "Search for General Tso" about the development of Chinese-American cuisine, which got its start back in the California Gold Rush with migrant Chinese cooks developing new styles of cooking using American ingredients.

Thanks Ken i might check that out

How do cannibals handle this issue?

This guy. Next he’ll realize midwesterners like cheese cups with pretzels.

Go Mr. Microhits!

Oriental food?

o·ri·en·tal

ˌôrēˈen(t)l/

adjective

1.

of, from, or characteristic of East Asia

How about Occidental food?

I ate in Occidental once by accident.

I like a slice of 'merican cheese in my bowl of ramen.

Did you know the Italians get angry when you put cheese on fish? It’s true. I’ve seen them get very upset about a filet-o-fish.

And what’s wrong with micro-smoking? Jeez

Cheese on fish?

Are you stunod?

I might be stunod I like a nice tuna melt

What about bagel and lox with a schmear?

Some of the best dishes come about by Occident.

Kang is cheesy .

Yes, this is true, I've been staring at this thread and that's the immediate thought I had. That Italian seafood in Italy will not be near any cheese.

I tried to pawn this off on the folks I cook for & that hasn't  worked.

So, I changed the brand of the fresh grated Imported Parmesan I use; and it has made all the difference on all my Italian food meals I cook, even on seafood.

Thank you for backing me up Bluelight I don’t think most people understand that it’s a real touchy issue with those people.

i bet they eat a lobster mac and cheese.

#13 Stuffed Won Ton (Stuffed with cream cheese) - 10 each..............$4.95

These are gross. My Chinese place, which is pretty good, gives these away, with any order over $25.

#13...

Lets not forget Philadelphia rolls!

NYC has a bunch of taco joints owned by the Chinese.  The cheese is not normal.  Perhaps it’s a cost based observation.   The food is cheap.

opiod/cheese connection huh.

moo receptors?

Every so often I fry up wonton's filled with a cream cheese mix(garlic, ginger, basil). Those fuckers are tasty dipped in a sambal/soy sauce!

I also make pizza rolls out of the full egg roll wraps ---- ummmmm!

I'm not 'oriental' so I guess I'm excused.
