Gov. Cuomo

Forums:

Making /talking a lot of common sense.

Qualified, indeed.

Absolutely

Yes he is.

His dad was a decent governor.

I'd vote him for POTUS.

I Like Him

His father, Mario, gave a great keynote speech at the 1984 Democratic convention:

https://www.c-span.org/video/?323534-1/mario-cuomo-1984-democratic-natio...

Best convention speech I ever heard (except, perhaps, the 2004 speech that might have made Obama president):

Reagan won in 84 and Bush won in 04.

Maybe Andrew Cuomo can make a great speech at the 2020 Democratic convention that actually results in a win, if there is a convention.

He doesn't seem as coked up as his brother

^Lol!

Watching him again now. In my opinion this man has several presidential qualities.

wow, must not live in NY. his catch and release program has had numerous deaths and other attacks and or crime done. criminals waiting for trial, can go back to the persons home with their lawyer, to "search for evidence".  this just allows another mental attack on the person.  they are allowed all witness information, address, name.  in long island a gang member was released, went to the witnesses home and beat him.  the second night they came back and killed him.  cuomo has most of the middle class running out of the state due to taxes.  really not a good governor at all.

No, I don't live there anymore and likely wouldn't under pretty much any circumstances . The middle class has been leaving New York due to taxes since the 80's. I said he has presidential qualities, I didn't say he should be the president. And I don't care so much about the big bad rapists and murderers, NY has shoved this exact brand of fear mongering it down its residents' throats literally my whole life (I'm 40). Thanks for the reminder, not much changes I suppose. Great place to be from. Stay safe out there.

I think it's a fair bet that we'll be seeing Gavin Newsom (or Gavin The Good as some call him) taking a hard run for the Big Chair in four years.

He used to annoy me, as most politicians do, but my cousin knows him and worked with him in SF and she really likes him.

My cousin is very cool and a good judge of people (she's also a nun) so despite being a politician I give Newsom a break.

I might even vote for him.

>>>>The middle class has been leaving New York due to taxes since the 80's

i don't believe that. Do you have any evidence to back up that the middle class has been leaving New York for the last 40 years? They must be all gone by now wouldn't you think?

Yes, the middle class have mostly evaporated and the wealth gap has exploded in our lifetimes in this country Bucky. Certainly you can research that if you need to. It will probably lead you to Bernie, eventually. Lol

>>>Yes, the middle class have mostly evaporated and the wealth gap has exploded in our lifetimes in this country Bucky.

that's not what you said, you said since the 1980's the middle class has been leaving N.Y. but feel free to transition what you said into something else in order to make yourself feel better

It's called the Empire State Exodus, Bucky. Welcome to the news.

Split my words if you need to.

I'm not here to fucking think for you.

so the media and corporate dems are fawning over an anti worker, anti union corporatist that can formulate a complete sentence?

is that the standard?

from my understanding, he's not real groovy....he supposedly also sided with state republicans to block some sort of worker protection, overturning or forcing the majority back to the republicans?

the bar is so low.

Complete sentences, fairly coherent thoughts, not a rapist yet as far as we know which isn’t much, some measurable amount of empathy.

A low bar, indeed.

well i guess he is qualified then...

Baby boomers really seem to love this guy. This has presented a great opportunity for him to chowcase his skills as a talking head. He will benefit off this pandemic more than anybody. Meanwhile behind closed doors he is lobby to cut Medicaid. What a guy

It will probably be at least 8-12 years before there's a viable Progressive candidate. Until then, what would the far left be willing to compromise with in a more center Democratic candidate?

His brother has COVID-19 now.

I think the issue is that a lot of people aren't willing to compromise on certain issues such as health care or workers pay/rights. These thing aren't political talking points. They are basic human necessities in today's society. Most of all people are sick of being lied to by people who think they can get away with it and play you for a fool. It seems that 99.9% of politicians have this character trait.

>It will probably be at least 8-12 years before there's a viable Progressive candidate.<

based on?

look nothing really will or can change in our nation until the concept that corporations are people is defeated, but considering our supreme court stacked with federalist society appointments, that is unlikely...

oh and the grerrymandering/voter supression thing too...

Timpane, I have  piecemeal respect for politicians and news media.

It's all we have at this time, it fucking sucks to to be in a position to piecemeal advice from the above noted entities.

FUCKING GOOD LUCK ALL!

Take care of your self's, zoners.

That, Timpane, is what makes them politicians. I'll add that anyone who wants to be the President of the US, the most powerful person in the world, has a screw or two loose. Who in their right mind wants that kind of responsibility and power? In 2020 there's a spectrum of nutso. Bernie is on one end of it, Klobuchar, Mayor Pete, Biden, Beto and the likes are in the middle, and then you have Hillary, Obama, Rubio and Cruz. On the far other end to a Trump. But they are all on the same spectrum. Maybe the only person who wasn't on it was Carter.

Would a starting compromise be someone who will push a $15 minimum wage, campaign finance reform, and a set pathway to universal healthcare? It's going to be a bit of a process to get to M4A, and perhaps someone who is so hard line on it right now will actually set it back. It will happen, but it will take a bit of time, diplomacy and finageling.

>>based on?

Well, there are 535 seats in both houses of Congress. Less than 125 are held by progressives. Only one or two are in the senate. I just think that the Progressive revolution has to start at the local level to take hold, not at the top. I figure that in 8-12 years the Progressive ideals will be more mainstream, understood and accepted. That's when someone like AOC can step in.

But you're absolutely right that gerrymandering and voter suppression make it awful hard for progressive urban centers, especially in the South and Bible Belt, to elect the Congress-people that represent their views.

That's just my opinion. I could be totally wrong, and maybe I am. Maybe it's only 4 years.

Paraphrasing John Fugelsang:

What you feel when:

Newsome speaks - Daddy's home!

Cuomo speaks - Step-Daddy is stern but will make it all better.

Trump speaks - Grandpa took his dick out at the bus stop again.

Don't look at the man behind the curtain!

>Don't look at the man behind the curtain<

Who?

This guy?

Percoco, former top aide to Cuomo, starts serving his prison sentence

Percoco had many official and unofficial titles over the years. Right-hand man to Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo was the constant.

On Friday morning, Percoco got a new title: Inmate Number 78132-054.

The former top government, political and personal adviser to Cuomo, whom the governor once likened as a brother, reported to Otisville federal prison in Orange County Thursday to begin serving a six-year sentence he received in his 2018 corruption conviction.

On Friday morning, the Federal Bureau of Prisons updated its inmate locater page to include Percoco as a member of its system.

Yesterday's Coronavirus briefing, worth watching even if you don't live in NY.

https://youtu.be/00GKmNkpZxo

He's on right now, he's my gov and I don't miss his briefings. I do miss pretend potus nightly briefings.

My oldest works in the health field in the Atlanta area and she has been exposed by a co-worker and on the list for a test. lo

her mother and I are convinced her boss is trying to kill all of her workers, it's crazy, but it's Georgia.

you can buy a pistol and open carry anywhere, but that's another issue entirely

I'm really bummed about today's events.  Likely the end of his career.  On one hand I trust the women accusing him, on the other hand it's hard to believe he did anything intentionally wrong.

Guy is so full of himself, I doubt he will resign.

Probably not gonna run for president now.  On the other hand my wife said his behavior is a presidential standard

> Likely the end of his career.  On one hand I trust the women accusing him, on the other hand it's hard to believe he did anything intentionally wrong<

Check out Joe Percoco, then tell me if you still believe the  second part of your statement

It's all about perspective.

In his mind, the man may not have intended to <<insert action here>>, but the recipient of that action most likely did not intend to receive that action, therefore the action is perceived as intentional, because in the end, it's the action that counts.

Who wants to be surprised by a co-worker like that, along with the intimidation that goes along with it?

Bahahaha.  Good stuff.  Full melt going on.  Where's BS to tell us about presidential qualities.

2016 was between Epstein's closest friends.

11 women came forward and the worst I heard he did was let a woman get so close to him her boobies rubbed against him,, and it was her moving in on him. That's it ?? Really ? Please tell me there's more to this story than that, like a good -  waiting for the bus all day -  hard-on to the butt crack rub at the very least,, scheeech. So unpresidential, if it was presidential there would have been solicitation and penetration,, right djt ?

Bye bye

A fun one from early in this thread:

Aw, we were just children then...

I mean - three out of four ain't bad.

Off with his head!

He made a lot of sense to me when I started this thread.

Like Emily Latella on the Ole SNL,,,,,,,,,

never mind

Another politically motivated hit job just like Al Franken but without the pictures.

repubs get away with covid killings and the blatant raping of this country on a daily basis while pitty pat bullshit takes another dem down. Al never should have resigned, Cuomo either. Fuck your false outrage.

Ah, the wistful innocence of sixteen months ago
