I think the issue is that a lot of people aren't willing to compromise on certain issues such as health care or workers pay/rights. These thing aren't political talking points. Well, there are 535 seats in both houses of Congress. Less than 125 are held by progressives. Only one or two are in the senate. I just think that the Progressive revolution has to start at the local level to take hold, not at the top. I figure that in 8-12 years the Progressive ideals will be more mainstream, understood and accepted. That's when someone like AOC can step in.
But you're absolutely right that gerrymandering and voter suppression make it awful hard for progressive urban centers, especially in the South and Bible Belt, to elect the Congress-people that represent their views.
