The past few years, Jesse Malin has been putting together an bi-coastal, international event called Gates of The Wast to celebrate Joe Strummer's birthday and raise some funds for various charities. With live events on hold due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this year the celebration will be in the form of a live stream this Friday at 3pm EDT/Noon PDT on https://www.joestrummer.com/ and the Joe Strummer YouTube channel. The lineup is still being finalized and added to, but as of now Bob Weir, Bruce Springsteen, The Hold Steady, Jesse Malin, Lucinca Williams, Dhani Harrison, Eugene Hutz of Gogol Bordello, Joe Ely, Tom Morello, The Dropkick Murphys and many more will be performing their favorite Joe Strummer songs. The charity being supported this year is NIVA the National Independent Venue Association to help the places that most artists got their start performing, small independent venues. I am glad so many artists in so many streams are supporting the #SaveOurStages movement because if these venues all close (at least 90% of them are hanging on by the slimmest threads right not) the live music scene will take a very long time to recover, if ever.
If you are a fan of live music, Joe Strummer, The Clash, The Mescaleros or any of the artists that will be performing, sit down, crank up the computer or smart TV, turn it up loud and dig into your pockets if possible. These venues and their employees need our help to survive. If they don't, none of us will be seeing many live acts in the future.

Anybody have a guess on what songs various performers might do?
Bob Weir?

Didn't know about Weir
Didn't know about Weir performing Train In Vain and had forgotten about that duet with Jesse on Death or Glory. which is bad on me because I know I posted it on whatever Zone was around about 10 seconds after it was released.
Both solid choices.
Needless to say, I am wondering hard what song Springsteen might play. He has done a cover of London's Calling before. My wild card pick is based on another cover Springsteen did in Australia a few years ago. He did a cover of the Bee Gees song Stayin' Alive that started out with just him doing an acoustic riffy bit that stylistically could lend itself to Magnificent Seven. What I hear in my mind, with Bruce's voice, would be awfully powerful.

Looks like Bob was struggling with remembering the lyrics, and the tempo had slowed considerably by 2013. Must have been close to when the Further train crashed.
