Plant Based diet............

Forums:

So I Saw my Doctor today he suggested Trying a Plant Based Diet for a Month

Suggestions on What To Eat For A Month or so ?

and Thanks

I'm at 211 lbs - the Goal is 200 or maybe 195 lbs

Ethnic food like Chinese, Thai, Middle Eastern, and Indian offer an abundance of plant based options.

Here is a searchable database of restaurants featuring plant based menus:

https://www.happycow.net/

Even if you don't eat out a lot, you can check out their menus for ideas.

bread and pasta

Edibles

Sweet potatoes and other root veggies, lotsa broccoli peppers carrots and kale are good starters. Just buy a bunch of stuff and then figure out what to do with it. I hate when folks pick out a recipe and then go shopping for those items. You will get alot more creative with a buncha fun colors in your veggie basket that you have no idea what to do with. You will figure it out. I eat mostly nut and veggies along with some proteins. Havent touched rices, pastas, grains, sugars, dairy, alcohol or processed foods in 2 years without a look back. Actually closing in on a decade sans alcohol. never felt better

quinoa for the win

it's funny that you need suggestions

are you the guy that orders a salad with just lettuce?

Brown rice and beans

My Doc said Portion Control ! Is Key ! Small amounts ! even Saying There Should be Morsel Restaurants(tiny portions) where a Little spread Out over the Day Is Key - My Doc Is A  COOL Guy Too ! yes

Rice Pasta Bread ? You Guys are Idiots !

Fishcane Scores !

Whatever plant based diet you eat, just add plenty of salt and fat. You’ll be fine.

You’re actually in luck, because bacon is a plant.

just messing with ya plf!

Marijuana is a plant

a dry feb may help too <<<

i hate this weather west coast - I Want Copious Amounts of rain and snow this time of year !angry

lol, did he share this with you? << he actually did 4 winds - we communicate well which is Actually a good thing.

>>Whatever plant based diet you eat, just add plenty of salt and fat. You’ll be fine.

creamed spinach!

there are some tasty recipes out there (The Berghoff etc)

Bring it Noodler. Bring! It!

4winds hit on a good one: dont be afraid to throw fruits into the mix, ie: apples in the salad. One of my faves is a kale salad with apples  and pecans with a dressing made by blending EVOO with ACV, a garlic clove, a fresh jalapeno, lemon juice, a handful of cashews and some fresh ground salt and pepper

Y'all Crack Me Up ~ Love Ya All.

Ask Owsley.

Oh, wait a sec......

Cut some brussel sprouts in half, marinate in extra virgin oo for a while. Bake at 300 for bout 20-30 minutes. Pute on a plate and sprinkle some balsomic vinegar on them and eat

Broccoli has all the B vitamins of kale but is 50 percent less pretentious.

yes, I'll add pecans too.  such a good combo!

Sweet potatoes make a good carne asada substitute for tacos.  Just dice small and season them like they’re meat.

>>>>> Plant based diet.

No spot taken.

Good luck though. The wife is a vegetarian/ some times pescatarian. She struggles to fit all the proteins she needs. It’s not easy.

Here are links from modernist enthusiasts of Oshawa 'Zen Macrobiotic'  dietary principles.
I read the Book back in the 1980's and tried it for a while,  and it's just fine.

Bob Weir speaks of the ZM in ancient interviews ...
Bob Dylan showed his awareness with the lyric "...I get brown rice,  seaweed and a dirty hot dog..."

I'll go a few days with just salads,  carrots, potatoes (w/ Butter) and no meat or Fish,  and feel just fine.  But Zen Macrobiotic says no Nightshades,  which would be Potatoes,  Tomatoes,  Eggplant and some other thing.

Good luck with the 'Plant-Based'  diet.  If I'm quitting anything it's  usually toxic USA commercial Wheat products.  Too much glyphosate in that shiite.

grass fed beef should count as plant based. just sayin...

I can  get by with Brown Rice & Vegetables just fine if I'm not doing anything too physically demanding.

But lately,  my hobby has been re-rocking the driveway,  and nearby the Quarry I get gravel,  the Thai place has a yummy Thai Beef Salad.

Very tasty,  to the point where I find good excuses to go get more rock,  just to get the Yummy snack.

I find that a few forks gives me energy enough to spread that gravel,  compared to a few baked Russets.

If I eat a few  baked Russets or Red Potatoes,  the energy is long-term,  but I want a Nap afterwards.  Fish or Cow is more suitable for immediate battery charging.

So if i chop up that leftover Baked Potato for home-fries in the AM,  with a Egg & Bacon,  the Potato still makes me sleepy,  even after Coffee.

Maybe that is why 'Nightshades' are verboten in Zen Macro Diet.
