I know the Astros are damn good and you never know in a 7 game series, but the Dodgers are so versatile and deep, and they've been building toward this moment for a long time. I just think this is their year.
I figure the place will be full, especially after so many years not being in the WC, but things have changed in LA and I've read from a few media types, even an LA reporter, who thinks it will be the usual late in-leave early scene.
But I agree, IMO the money and the moment will bring them out.
Expecting a long series. You have the best d in the league in Houston and then the best offense in LA. Usually the best d wins but La does have home field advantage. I think we are watching two best teams from each league battling it out. Should be exciting. If it comes down to a verlander/kershaw game seven that would be pretty epic,
Bad offense showing for Astros. After the dodgers wen ahead they pretty much just laid down and we're going through the motions. Don't be good enough to win this series. They have to do something. Lay down a bunt, steal a base or something. They need a road win. I get they're playing for a split but last night was exactly what the doc ordered for the dodgers
kershaw should do a deoderant commercial...im actually surprised some company hasnt had him do one yet...thats a weird freakin windup...
those dodger teams from the 70 s , mentioned above, were my Dads favorites....he was an old brooklyn dodger fan, and had managed to keep rootin for Da Bums, along w the Red Sox, of course
i watched alot of games w garvey, lopes, russell, cey, baker, monday, ferguson, yeager etc., in my Dads last few years (75-78 he was reeeall sick, and we lost him in 78).., he had twice as many reasons as to why to hate the yankees as most of us..lol....so, ill always have special place in my heart for the Dodgers..i agree w above---just expectin to see some great games...ill be happy for whichever franchise, and city, that wins
One of the old Brooklyn Dodgers George "Shotgun" Shuba lived 3 houses away from my house when growing up in Youngstown, OH.
He was famous for a homeplate handshake with Jackie Robinson after Jackie hit his first homerun in the minors on April 18, 1946.
In the third inning, Robinson hit a three-run homer. As he came home after rounding the bases, Shuba, the next batter in the order, shook his hand as he crossed home plate, a gesture of acceptance. The image, captured in an Associated Press photograph that was widely distributed, came to be seen as an an image of racial harmony.
“I couldn’t care less if Jackie was Technicolor,” Shuba told Dave Stubbs of The Gazette of Montreal on the 60th anniversary of the handshake. “As far as I was concerned, he was a great ballplayer — our best. I had no problem going to the plate to shake his hand instead of waiting for him to come by me in the on-deck circle.
Robinson made his debut with the Brooklyn Dodgers the following season on his way to a Baseball Hall of Fame career. Shuba got to the parent Dodgers in 1948. He hit .305 in 1952 as the Dodgers won the National League pennant. In 1953, he became the first National league player to hit a pinch-hit home run in the World Series. In 1955, Shuba joined Robinson in celebrating Brooklyn’s first — and only — World Series victory.
George Thomas Shuba was born in Youngstown, Ohio, where his father, a Slovakian immigrant from Austria-Hungary, worked at a steel mill.
The famous Associated Press photograph as George Shuba greets Montreal teammate Jackie Robinson at home plate with a handshake. Robinson had just hit a three-run homer in his debut in Organized Baseball on April 18, 1946, at Roosevelt Stadium against the Jersey City Giants.
This is the other Associated Press and probably most famous picture of the homeplate handshake. It needed to be restored & touched up because I think the only known print copy was slightly torn behind Jackie's left hand, the right field fence and at the bottom of Jackie's right leg.

Hoping for another close game. Don't exactly think this is a must win for the Astros but it would make the next three games must wins if they lose. Dodgers looked impeccable last night. Hard to beat if they pitch like that this series. I don't see Verlander losing tonight though.
It's not unusual for Jansen to pitch two innings, but in the WS there is so much more intensity with every pitch it's asking a lot of any reliever. And the Astros are pretty good too.
I'd say that guy Fields isn't going to be getting any free dinners in LA tonight.
im not sure , lance, but i thought announcer said Jansen has one 6-out save in career, comin vs Cubs last year? but, i may be wrong...ill all know is that it seems whenever you change these guys (relievers) routines, its a slippery slope.
and , yes, holy crap is Altuve good! no way will Houston be able to pay Bregman, Correa, Altuve, and Springer for much longer---id love to see Altuve take over for Pedroia in Beantown...
wow! Puig just crushed one...great game...setting up a great series
two teams that won 100 games...i def think two best teams got here...after first two, it def has makings of a classic series...
8 homers....ball just jumping off bats w the heat...about game 1 homer, turner said on a normal night, the ball he hit out would barely have made it to warning track...should be a fun 3 in Houston
Wow! Passed out around the 7th inning. Astros stole a close one. Going back to Houston for the next three where the Astros have been sensational. Houston is playing like the royals team a few year back. They never give up and it always seems like they could win any game. It may be a long three games for LA. Hope they can a win so we can see a potential game 6.
Yuli gives Yu the old slant eyes from the dugout after his HR and apparently that’s one of those things that isn’t “cool” to do anymore. Hopefully he won’t get sent back to Cuba.
the pregame team is horrible...big popi, Arod, just terrible...frank thomas is weak..keith hernandez is a pro, but hardly can get a word in w these guys talkng over each other....
and, IMO, ROMO is terrible...cant blv he s getting rave reviews from tv ppl....
i really think tonite is a must win for LA, they cant go down 3-1. Astros should be loose, which makes them even more dangerous....ya, i think this series is over in 5, bumping it up from my original prediction of astros in 6....
Darvish failed the Fodgers big-time last night. Last night was exactly why they got him and he laid a rotten egg. Now the pressure is huge on the next two starters for the Ugly Blue.
But that's what it's all about; who responds to the huge pressure.
Personally I think the Dodgers are too good to go down quietly.
But it wouldn't break my heart.
BTW, with everything these days all about the home run, which IMO especially on TV is boring to watch, it was great to see what really makes a championship last night; that double-play the Astros turned was absolutely brilliant, and absolutely clutch.
I could watch a replay of that 50 times and be entertained every time. It was art in motion, it saved the day for the 'stros, and that's why I love to watch sports at it's highest level.
Big-time stuff.
I'm hoping for more of that in the next few games. I love a good hit-&-run, a stolen base, a shot to the gap and a play at the plate. That's so much more exciting to watch than a long fly ball going over a wall.
Great series. Looking forward to a mother classic tonight. Pretty much a must win for Houston. At the same The way this series is going The Dodgers won't want to have to win two straight and go down 3-2 in the series. Pivotal game. Would love to see a game 7 and some November baseball so I'm rooting for the Astros.
The pitching in most of these games hasn't been World Series quality, and when you miss over the plate in games like these they're going to get whacked every time, but damn it sure does lead to entertaining games.
after Seagar ' s hit...making it 11-9...he and Altuve were talking and basically smiling etc at second base....reminds me of best series ever 1975, burleson and pete rose at third...game 7...rose basically said "no matter who wins, this has been a lot of fun."
this guy basically got traded by Seattle for a bag of balls...he couldnt hit at all in Seattle...now, he could be a series mvp...he s been as good as anybody w clutch at bats, and playing every position in field
Well, last night really settled one argument. Madison Bumgarner >>>>> Clayton Kershaw, who has given up 8 HR’s during these playoffs. You need your ace to step up in a pivotal game 5 and Kershaw didn’t do it. He failed at his ultimate test.
This vaunted Dodgers bullpen better wake the hell up if they want to give Vin Scully the send off he deserves. They really need to show some respect for Vin and the only way to show that is to win these last two games.
word now that the pitchers dont like the world series baseballs...same exact ball as regular season, w differant "special" logo etc...Verlander said they all could feel the differance , the balls all feel slick. Darvish didnt say it , but others said it prob effected his cutter and slider. Vrlander said balls were actually difficult to sign w ink pen...i expect wiley old vets , Verlander and McCann to "dirt" the crap out of the baseballs...Verlander tosses no hitter to close out classic series
Hahaha that's funny but Verlander ain't throwin a no no against this Dodgers team, especially with those balls which are obviously benefiting hitters. This series is going all the way to the wire with the Astros celebrating at Chavez Ravine on Wednesday with Altuve the MVP
Seeing that photo of you in the ole' 'Stros uniform reminds me how hard it is for me to wrap my head around the fact that Houston used to be in the National League.
There's a good connection between the Astros and the Giants, so I say, "Go Astros!"
That being said, my Dad spent the majority of his life in Southern CA, so I also have a bit of conflicted love for The Bums.
Root for the West Coast?? That is the silliest thing I have ever heard. YAY root for a team that paid hundreds of millions of dollars for players and will continue to do so until they ultimately win a Series. SO RAD!
Virtually every good team in every sport has to pay, because good players cost money, and if a good team happens to not be paying at the top level... they will be soon or they'll lose their good players.
And the Dodgers, like the Giants from a few years ago, are very home-grown (damn them) so there's that as well.
Personally I will favor a west coast team sometimes, but generally I lean more toward the National League team (except when it's the Dodgers) and ultimately I usually root for a teams fans, since that's what I am and where my sensibilities lie. In this situation I know how long Dodgers fans have waited, and despite popular opinion (of which I sometimes partake in for fun) I know there are many true "blue" Dodgers fans who really care about that stupid team.
But in this case I'm leaning toward the Astros & their fans, since their team has never won a World Series and has for the most part been terrible over their history (and those ugly uniforms the team used to wear, OUCH!) plus there's the disaster relief angle.
Mainly this year I just want good baseball and a team to WIN it as apposed to a team LOSING it (choking or whatever one wants to call it).
How Dodger Blue Became a Part of the Internet, from the L.A. Times:
Twenty-eight years ago, thanks to the efforts of a fan, the Los Angeles Dodgers quietly became a part of computer history. In 1989, the team’s famous Dodger blue was added to a color database that is now almost certainly included in the web browser you’re using to read this.
Paul Raveling, a software engineer who in 1989 was working at the Information Sciences Institute at USC, had been “tuning” colors to be properly displayed on computer monitors. He proposed a major update to the list of color names that were supported by the X11 user interface system, including one called “dodgerblue.”
An amazing run by the Houston Astros, world champions.
It's weird saying that... Houston Astros, World Champions. Good for them.
And I was saying to a friend earlier tonight that there are only one or two current Dodgers I don't like, so as always, even though it's the stinking Dodgers I feel (almost) as bad for the losers as much as I feel good for the winners.
That's going to be the eternal Dodgers 2017 question... Should they have started Kershaw and let the game flow from there?
They'll never know.
But I'm very happy for the Astros, and I just love that Little Fucker Altuve.
And if it's possible I can now take even greater pleasure from seeing Matt Cain pitch a Perfect Game five years ago against the Astros, and that Little Fucker Altuve was playing that night!
GO GIANTS IN 2018!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We love Altuve in my family also because his playing in the playoffs meant my sister won a bet that he would have more hits than Judge. The result is that she'll be treated to an oyster po-boy in New Orleans when she's there in December.
Happy to see the team in Orange win... didn't watch a whole lot the series except game 7, but I found myself getting stressed every time the fodgers threatened. I wonder if dodger fans felt the same way when the giants were winning their championships? Probably not...
Anyways, after enduring the jokes for decades from Dodger fans about the Giants not winning for 50 plus years, I was hoping to see the dodger winless streak go to 30+ years. 1988 does seem like a long time ago...
And are these Dodgers the 21st century version of the '90s Braves (win tons of games and division titles, but very few, if any, championships)? It becomes more of a possibility with every pitch Kershaw (who, coincidentally, was born in 1988) throws.

I don't know about 6-out
I don't know about 6-out saves, but I've seen Jansen come in against the Giants often in the 8th for 5 or 4 out saves.
But I agree, it's asking a lot in games like these.
Tonight is a real good National League game.

Darvish failed the Fodgers
GO BASEBALL!!!

Yeah, silly stuff there
Yeah, silly stuff there Franklin.
GO BASEBALL!!!!!!

How Dodger Blue Became a Part

Amazing run by the Houston
An amazing run by the Houston Astros, world champions.
It's weird saying that... Houston Astros, World Champions. Good for them.
And I was saying to a friend earlier tonight that there are only one or two current Dodgers I don't like, so as always, even though it's the stinking Dodgers I feel (almost) as bad for the losers as much as I feel good for the winners.
It really is great to win.

Maybe a Yu Darvish Voodoo Doll Day.

chris taylor is a hell of a player though.
and that's sweet lance. thanks.
cheers astros. your town needed it.

That's going to be the
That's going to be the eternal Dodgers 2017 question...

We love Altuve in my family
We love Altuve in my family also because his playing in the playoffs meant my sister won a bet that he would have more hits than Judge. The result is that she'll be treated to an oyster po-boy in New Orleans when she's there in December.

Happy to see the team in
Happy to see the team in Orange win... didn't watch a whole lot the series except game 7, but I found myself getting stressed every time the fodgers threatened.

This should finally put to
This should finally put to rest the nonsense that was being spewed all season about these Dodgers being one of the best teams ever.
