Deception Or Delusion? Obama Claims US Now Most Respected Country On Earth
Obama may be conducting his own opinion polls on the side, phrasing the questions in just the right manner as to elicit the desired response. It’s either that or he’s gone completely insane, or he’s just lying through his teeth again. Whatever the reason, Obama is inexplicably claiming that the United States is more respected now than it was when he took office.
He then embarks on a fanciful trip into his world of make believe, explaining how wonderful he is and just how he imagines he was able to turn things around for us. What planet Obama is living on, because the one he describes has no similarity to the one where most of us reside.
It is not just our traditional enemies or the terrorists who have no respect for us, our allies also can be included in that number.

Wow. The answer is that Dead 2 is clearly, along with the rest of the disciples, delusional.
I worked with people in the EU, down under, Asia and Latin America, all educated, but "regular Joe's" so to speak (vs. "intellectuals"). ALL are aghast at what transpired here. Like many, they were shocked with Brexit, but felt that the US was much more constrained to allow shallow and reactionary emotions to rule the day. Policy issues are always, just that, policy issues which all countries deal with election cycle to election cycle. This became so much more. Italians who have had their share of craziness in politics including the election of a porn star in government (lower level) and are the ultimate "Christian" nation, cannot believe the US hired such an ethically and morally bankrupt guy to lead the country. Germans who are so disciplined and pragmatic cannot believe that our citizenry fell for an obvious carnival barker. They all fear that decency and common sense have potentially been buried deep.
So, in terms of respect, the notion of a degradation in the respect the world may have for the US having anything to do with the last 8 years vs. the last 18 months election cycle is indeed delusional. For a country that prided itself as a moral and ethical leader, we peaked in the eyes of the world with the election of a black man in 2008 and continued to elevate with the advancement of civil liberties on the social front (health care, gay marriage, etc.) over the next 7 years. We were poised to elect a female which most of the rest of the world has had for years already, come this cycle. Any loss of respect is squarely on the emergence of Trump and his disciples with the associated bigotry, misogyny and overall gullibility.

The Chinese snubbed Obama in public. Other world leaders are showing him equal disdain. The president of the United States lands with all the majesty of Air Force One, waiting to exit the front door and stride down the rolling staircase to the red-carpeted tarmac. Except that there is no rolling staircase. He is forced to exit — as one China expert put it rather undiplomatically — through “the ass” of the plane.

Would have required U.S. logistics support & advisors but not combat troops to thwart Russian & Iranian ambitions. But O-team didn’t want to do anything to threaten Iran nuke deal and Putin’s support for it!"

Respect is not the same as fear.
Agree, the US (we) are no longer as feared as we once were. However, that is based on the results of our last several endeavors (Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan) for which each party can take "credit" and which revealed a host of chinks in our armour. Ultimately, many know that while we may have military might, our overall execution has not been stellar AND we as the American people do not have the stomach we may have once had to be the worlds policeman. Consider Iraq. Post 911, the nation was ripe to go kick some, any, towel head ass. So, we march in to "finish the job G.H. Bush didn't" and proceed to muck it up to a fare thee well. Layer on Afghanistan and we are in over our heads against these "backwards", tribal people. By the end of the G.W. Bush era, his administration knows and wants out and negotiates an out. That election cycle, BOTH McCain and Obama are planning to extricate us because the American people (we) wanted out. We just have not "finished" in years and that is not a pure partisan play.
Lest we also not forget that when Obama came on board, America's "reputation" around the world was poor because we blew up the Middle East with our march into Iraq on what proved to be a bed of lies (WMD). Obama's approach was to "reset". Much like Trump, he set out to "reset" with Russia. Prior to that, GW Bush talked about a Russian reset ("I looked into Putin's eyes and saw a good man").
No matter who the leader is of our nation, the question of being the worlds policeman is one that has challenged us for the last few decades. The good men of the "greatest generation" fought a good and just war that was of a different time and place. It's also one that we stayed out of for a long time and only got in when we were attacked. Most, if not all, of the ones afterwards were questionable at best as for reasons to get involved and we didn't not finish.
Again, respect is not the same as fear.
