ZMA: 7/30 So.Cal Hit The Wall reunion

Forums:

I'm pleased to announce that a very special lineup of one of San Diego's finest local bands, Hit the wall, will b reuniting on Sunday July 30th at winstons in ocean beach.

We'll b playing a fun, yet seriously rockin Sunday happy hour day show from 3-5:30pm

Hit the wall is a jammy blues/funk/Rock project that has been delighting San Diego for well over 2 decades now with covers and originals.

there have been many configurations of the band over the years and I was lucky enough to b a big part of it in the late aughts.

this lineup featuring the groups founder, and frequent republic collaborator, Stacy Williams, myself, the lovely lead vocalist Danita jo and the powerhouse of a drummer Gary Mizhir (who's flying all the way from Virginia just to join us.)

This will b my first time performing at winstons and having seen some of my favorite musicians there such as David Nelson, George porter, Karl Denson and mike watt in the past makes this gig extra special for me.

it would b an honor to see some zoners in attendance.

Fun fact: this group last performed together at the final 8x10 zjam in Baltimore.

most of that set can b seen here courtesy of Zeus:

Great band.  Gonna try and make this for sure.

Without Hit The Wall, The Republic probably wouldn't have gigged as much as we did.  We used all their PA gear.

Good point, every republic performance after the summer of 06' has featured Stacy Williams and his PA.

lol, chances are we'll be moving north to either the Sacramento or Reno area by the end of July/early August, of course right when I'm finally established professionally in SD County. Should know which place next week.

I'll try to make this one if possible between work and moving, though. It would be fun to party a little in OB at least once before leaving the area.

Well good luck!

After our show I'm gonna try and go catch the Steve Gunn and Heron Oblivion performance in normal heights

cool

Cool.

Danita Jo rocks.

She's gonna b throwin down hard for this one, we all will.

HTW represent!

I plan to bring in da noise, as well as, in addition to da funk

All kinds of good stuff since I moved north.   Would love to make this. We'll see.   Hell be worth the drive just to see Danita Jo.

Bump!

Awesome

There's an 80% chance I'll be in the audience, and I'm 100% fun to hang out with so stop on by.

Do yourself a favor, go kick it with Hoover at hit the wall at Winston's in ocean beach!

only then can u truly say you've been San Diego'd

Have a great gig, Furious & Friends. gonna have to miss out on another zoner show. we are driving up to Reno on Sunday to look for houses next week, need to be moved up there by the end of August, just in time for the burning man carnival to blow through town.

Damn it ATGD.  I'm gonna have a beer with you someday whether you like it or not.

One of these days for sure. I figure I'll be hitting up one of those Sactown zoner jams once we are living in closer proximity, plus I plan on working in the capitol region on and off. Have a great visit and enjoy the coastal temps. The weather has been absolutely gorgeous down here recently after a couple of warmer weeks.

I'm sorry you'll never b able to say u were truly San Diego'd, ATGD

>>>>>The weather has been absolutely gorgeous down here recently after a couple of warmer weeks.

Ha.  I was down there two weeks ago and loving it when everybody was complaining about the heat.

Not triple digits?  Perfect!

This band is good...Saw them at Winston's a few years ago . I think Hoover opened up w an acoustic set. If I can escape family obligations I will definitely Hit The Show

That was a different lineup of htw but that's awesome u were at that.

the Hoover opener was historical with his former conscious few collaborator, Sean Jenkins and the legendary Ricky smutts on accordion.

Hope to see u there Sunday!

i'm a maybe....

Turtle, if our drummer can fly in from Virginia, I can drive damn near the entire length of California and Hoover can transport his entire family all the way from Fresno by camel to b there, I think u should b able to float down to OB on a surf board for this.

About to get this camel train on the move.

Fun fact.  I've seen more Hit The Wall shows than anybody but Stacy's (lead guitarists) wife.

Rehearsing today, tomorrow we dance!

What a fantastic time that was.  The band sounded great, there was a good sized crowd, and some of my favorite people on the planet were there.  Got a little choked up at one point cause it was simply so awesome.

Furious Es new Guild Starfire sounds awesome and killed on Mr Big.  Danita sounded great and, Stacy's guitar playing was top notch all all day.

The drive home was brutal.

Such a great photograph, men.

Looks like fun, even GDAD in the house.

More pictures, Please

i hear that!

sunday was one of the best days of my life.

started the day visiting with my niece for only the second time, then played winstons for the first time and finished the night by seeing heron oblivion and Steve Gunn band in normal heights.

i think there might have been more people at the hit the wall show as crazy as that sounds.

so nice to see that band getting a solid crowd turnout and respect from the venue.

we went way over our allotted time slot and they were all good with it.

HTW really is an underrated San Diego treasure.

i was a little rusty on all that material but I thought the band played really well, all things considered.

I'm proud to have been part of the lineup for this and am honored by the people who attended, especially those that travelled from out of town.
