If people want to do away with the Electoral College and implement proportional representation in the Senate, then why not also mandate that primaries in all states take place on the same day in an effort to level the playing field in the same light? Why should any given state have a disproportionate amount of national influence over the primary process? Perhaps more importantly, why should we allow there to be a "game" that can be gamed? If there must be a "process", instead of moving from state to state what about narrowing of field?

I agree that the primaries
I agree that the primaries should all be held on the same day. No one state should be able to hold more sway than another based on their vote. Making it all the same day levels the playing field. And no more electoral college, and in the primaries just a straightforward "the one with the most votes wins the nomination". Period.

But do you agree that it'd be a more equitable method for any given state's influence (if funds weren't an issue)?

They could randomize the order of the presidential primaries.
The one thing that was good about the Iowa system is that they had a runoff. If a person's first choice didn't make the 15% cut, they could then vote for a second choice who did. This type of ranked voting would be especially good in the general elections as it would allow people to vote their conscience without worrying about the spoiler effect. Maine has ranked voting and don't see why it couldn't work everywhere else.

Mail in ballots or verified electronic voting enable MORE people to vote, caucuses deter involvement.

We should get rid of the
We should get rid of the Primaries completely and let elected officials of the party decide who they put on the ballot. Then we should offer people an EZ ballot if they want it that only has President, Senate, House, Governor, State Senate, and State House on it.
Endless elections and choices do not give us better government and lead to voter apathy. People don't like to feel stupid. I pay really close attention and I would say 25% of the things I vote on I have no real idea. I'm talking things like Judges and State Board of Equalization.
Do you really think Americans can understand ranked choice and game theory?

Democrats in South Carolina
Democrats in South Carolina can vote in the Republican primary and get Trump off the ballot if the Republicans use their only primary vote in a Dem primary.

I am not talking about in person caucuses. Instead, it would be an instant runoff where the ballot would allow the voter to pick their top two choices. If their first choice is not in the top two (in the case of the general election), their second choice kicks in. Its not that complicated.
>>>>I'm talking things like Judges and State Board of Equalization
Those are all important too and the modern GOP built its power base from the school boards on up. In Oregon, every household gets a thick state issued voter pamphlet in the mail before the elections which allows each candidate to explain who they are, their positions, and endorsements. Its a good way to know whether the person you never heard of who is running for a local position is a right wing kook, progressive, etc.
Oregon also has all mail in ballots, automatic voter registration, and some of the highest voter participation rates in the country.

No democrat in South Carolina is gonna throw away their vote in the primary to vote for a republican.
Republicans don't have enough going on with their primary to keep them from trying to upset the democratic primary.

They could randomize the order of the presidential primaries<<<
This would certainly re-calibrate the existing power structure - as derived by the current order of states - so as it'd eventually be more "fair" over time; however, wouldn't said "fairness" really just be a product of state-to-state equality vs. what might a broader question of whether or not any given state's sequential position in a primary ought to have influence over the national outcome?
If there must be a process that evolves over time, I'd much prefer stages that whittle down the field over time ... yet all states must vote for each stage on the same day.

National primary - one day. Just like the Nov. election. Anyone with enough support is in. Add up the votes nationwide, top two go head to head in Nov.
In Nov., no state totals. No electoral college. Just add 'em up.
