Before getting into the Dead I was really into Yes. I missed seeing them with Patrick Moraz on keys (like this show), but I saw 2 Yes tours before I saw my first Dead show, the Going For The One tour in '77, and the Tormato tour in '78 (in the round). I remember thinking that I could appreciate the differences between the studio versions of songs, the Yessongs live versions, and the versions in the shows I saw. I was a big fan of Steve Howe on guitar before I appreciated Jerry.
Word has it, there is no multi-track recording of the performance, so you're basically getting the 2-track live mix created on the fly for the live FM broadcast, Apparently, based on pre-release access to a copy of Roundabout, the sound quality of this Rhino release is comparable to the better bootlegs. We'll see if there's any subtle processing, and what edits might have been made.
I figured out a long time ago how rare ensemble improvisation is (like the best live Grateful Dead) and that Yes might change song arrangements and feature improvisational solos, but they didn't "jam". I recently listened to a live version of the song Ritual from the official release Yesshows, and parts of it reminded me of '74 GD. That release, and this one from Roosevelt Stadium, are well worth checking out.

To think I was so excited years ago to get this version of the show from a torrent site, and now you can get it from from Archive, and not just streaming, you can even download the FLACs. A far cry from scraping together money for bootleg LPs at Rather Ripped Records in Berkeley in the '70s.
