When Pete remixed the album in 96, he decided they should take it on tour, starting with "Prince's Trust Concert", leading to 6 shows at Madison Square Garden in July, and then a full tour that started in Portland, Oregon, on October 13, 1996. The newly built Rose Garden hadn't had any shows yet, so the Who rehearsed for their tour there for a week, allowing Paul Allen and co to play with all the new video and sound features they had installed for games vs shows. Members of the Who would show up at various clubs to sit in with local bands, and many of the downtown cafes... fond memories. There were multiple news stories about it that week, leading up to the show.
When it was concert time, I was traveling with Greg Little, who some of you know as "Squirrel" (Squirrels tavern in Corvallis, OR fame). We parked in the employee parking section (as we often did), and came in back stage, actually made it past a few security check points (suppose we were dressed appropriately for it), until we found ourselves entering the inside of the arena, behind the stage, and went shit! We were suppose to meet some friends at the fire fountain to get our tickets, and if we hung out backstage, they'd be waiting for us missing the show.... so, around we went, back outside, lol. Was a great show, as one would expect, and good times with friends!
