Who are the people in your neighborhood?

Forums:

...They're the people that you meet when your walking down the street; they're the people that you meet each day!  laugh

Just read this BPD report (I live on the 1400 block of 66th Street):

Shooting Suspects in Custody Following Warrant Service

On May 17, 2018 at just after 7:00am, Berkeley Police Detectives served search and arrest warrants at two Berkeley and one Richmond residence.  The warrant services came following the investigation of two shootings which occurred on April 12, 2018.  The first shooting occurred at 9:39pm on the 1600 block of Russell Street.  The second, occurred less than 10 minutes later on the 2900 block of Mabel Street.  The motive for the shootings appear to be gang related.

Taken into custody during the warrant service on the 1300 block of 66th Street, was Amed Arabzai 20, of Berkeley.  During a search of the residence, Homicide Detectives recovered a .40 caliber pistol with an altered serial number, approximately $15,000 in US currency, and about 30 pounds of marijuana.

Arrested on the 600 block of Carlson Boulevard in Richmond, was Grayson Gordon 21, of Richmond.  During a search of his apartment detectives recovered an additional firearm.

On May 21, 2018, the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office charged Grayson with shooting at an inhabited dwelling, assault with a semiautomatic firearm, use and carry of a loaded and concealed firearm public, carrying an unregistered firearm, as well as an enhancement for the use of firearm while attempting to commit a felony.  Arabzai was charged with possession for sale of marijuana and alteration, removal, or obliteration of a firearm identification number.

Grayson remains in custody at the Alameda County Jail and Arabzai has been released on his own recognizance.

The Berkeley Police Department is proud of the ongoing efforts of its officers and detectives who work hard to keep our community safe from gun violence.

Fuck gang bangers!  Hopefully that will be as close as it gets to you, Skudebro.

At this point we don't have gangs, but we have still had some issues. A number of years back there was a swat raid on the house next door to us... dad was growing weed and dealing white powders with his young wife and very young daughter living in the house.  He was out and back in business the next day, and of course there was a parade of shady fuckers coming around at all hours (though our house 'only' got burglarized once).   The landlord lived in another state and had no idea what was going on, so I got her addy from public records and sent a letter with just the web address of the crime report... It was such a good day when I drove up the road and saw the 'for sale' sign in front of that house! (new owner occupies the place and is totally chill).

But then a few years later and few houses down the street, the bomb squad was there detonating home made bombs (I heard "fire in the hole!" as they blew one up while I was riding my bike by)... apparently a parolee lived there and had made them.

Since then, the place has been remodeled and commands much higher rent and has brought a better class of renter, which, while not so nice for renters is good for the neighborhood.

((((gentrification))))

Even in nature, it's red vs blue.
