Where is the Philoween lineup?

Forums:

The situation is getting interesting: All of these bands are in the NYC area w/ dates that overlap Philoween.

Create your dream Philoween lineup!

Dead & Co. @ MSG 10/31 and 11/1

Railroad Earth @ Bowery Ballroom on 11/1 and 2

Trey @ Carnegie Hall 10/29 and 30

Infamous Stringdusters in Philly 10/31

Pigeons Playing Ping Pong @ Playstation Theater 11/1

Bill Frisell w/ Ravi Coltrane 11/1

David Byrne @ Hudson Theater 11/2

Terrapin dishwasher band.  Take it to the bank.

I hope Phil is all recovered and rocking Philoween!  Bring on David Byrne!

Fitzman has it, but there will probably be an added special guest guitarist that still won't make it worth the trip.

>>>>Pigeons Playing Ping Pong @ Playstation Theater 11/1

one of these bands is not like the others

Grahame’s band has its own gigs that weekend. I doubt phil would bring on any of the other fam bands with the exception of maybe Crosby, without Grahame.

i honestly have high hopes for these lineups. With Dead and Co down the road, I’m hoping Phil would be motivated to drop a couple all-timers.

All of the Q guys are off around Halloween. Trey’s tour ends 10/30 ... just sayin’

Its Philloween pholks....Phil , and the Pumpkins , are worth the price of admission alone.....( well, besides the basic fact that no shows are worth the going prices these days)

Pony Up...

This is the only band in the world that gets away with this crap. Pay up front without knowing who's playing. But not really, there are almost 800 tix still available for Halloween night. That's real money folks.

And by the way, a sound check is NOT a rehearsal. These bands stumble through the first night, with perhaps a moment of brilliance, and when the run is done,

maybe sound like a band. I cannot think of a more unprofessional approach to playing.

BTW, I love jazz, I love the spontaneity, the improvisation, the experimentation, and THIS is not THAT. This is the lowest common denominator. I finished with Phil the night Steve Winwood's band opened for Phil at The Cap. In comparing the two, Winwood lived up to his name, and then some. Phil was an embarrassment.

Never trust a prankster...

Spending quality time, dancing, partying, laughing and giggin' down with your spouse & good friends to our Main Man Phil playing our beloved music is always worth the trip!! But hey, any ol' DeadHead worth their salt knows that!

I realize that the price of concert tickets has skyrocketed in recent times but $114 (with fee) to be on the on the floor for Phil just seems high. I'd have to imagine these shows would sell quickly (despite no band announcement) if they were more moderately priced.

>>All of the Q guys are off around Halloween

Except half of the guitar players

"""Spending quality time, dancing, partying, laughing and giggin' down with your spouse & good friends to our Main Man Phil playing our beloved music is always worth the trip!! But hey, any ol' DeadHead worth their salt knows that! """

First Dead show, '78, do I qualify now?  Back when you saw The Dead and people didn't ask 'which one?'

If the music is so beloved, why isn't it treated with respect? Jumping off a late plane, heading up to Port Chester, to see and hear if the electricians did their job is not respecting the music.

I get the fun part, but I go for the Music part. The Main Man is coasting.

Jerry h on point

<<<The Main Man is coasting.>>>

The Main Man is 79 years old.  Fixed that for you....

I also stopped going to TFB shows, but I'm in the 'Phil can play with whoever the fuck he wants to' camp.

Guess you missed The Stones Tour. Neil doesn't phone it in either. Phil's phoning it in. Honestly hope the Philoween shows are good, I would never wish anyone a bad time. Just won't see me there.

And you don't have to fix anything for me, I said EXACTLY what I wanted to say.

Phil is a god

He certainly can  play with whomever  and wherever he wants

And has contributed to the joy and evolution of countless countless musicians and fans for that matter

Every Single time I see him he does something amazing and I just smile

F n a. He is 79 years old

Modest and brilliant and I’m pretty damn sure he knows how lucky he is

magic does still happen

thank god for Txr

52 and still counting long_live_the_dead

Brian Lesh is available these dates.

Dishwasher is available but valet guy is working a double that night. I’m sure RMFJ can handle the heavy lifting.

Shecky Greene reporting for duty.

I'm really hoping none of the Terrapin busboys will be involved. Jason Crosby is the only exception that I wouldn't mind.

For guitar I'm guessing some combo of rj, Warren, or Stanley Jordan. Hoping for Sless.  I bought two for Saturday. Bob might be available that night

Fingers crossed for Sless!  Agree about Crosby.

Whoever plays and whether people are going or not, at this point I think everyone should just hope that Phil is healthy and on stage for these shows.

Heal up Phil!

New dates for MoonAlice through Oct 31 = no chance of Molo or Sless @ Philoween, boo.

>at this point I think everyone should just hope that Phil is healthy and on stage for these shows.

My thoughts as well.  Not even sure these dates are going to happen.

Let's hope Phil isn't pulling a Melania 'kidney surgery' and comes out with new tits.

Guess the MSG rumor for Phil's 80th isn't happening.  Billie Eillish is now playing there on Phil's birthday.  Radio City is also booked.

New dates for MoonAlice through Oct 31 = no chance of Molo or Sless @ Philoween, boo.>>

It that like a boo hiss, or a Halloween boo?

Trey would be good.

Hey, where is TFB on these dates?

The show i saw with Phil and TFB was actually pretty good.

Billie Eillish must be a big deal.  Folks are camped out for standby SNL tix.  Since Thursday AM, I'm told.

> Guess the MSG rumor for Phil's 80th isn't happening.

If Phil plays a big gig for his 80th it should be in the Bay Area anyway

Despite serious and widespread backlash to The Capital Theatre on their Facebook page, Port Chester Capital Theatre tickets have now been officially given to Ticketmaster for scalping.

For example - Phil Lesh and Friends Saturday Nov 2 2019: https://www1.ticketmaster.com/event/1D00573A9ECF278E

You're not a fan unless you're a Verified Fan?

Considering saturday depending on weather and logistics ect, lineup blah blah.

"Rob Barraco is set to join Phil Lesh & Friends at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY on November 2."

>>>>Capital Theatre tickets have now been officially given to Ticketmaster<<<<

Say what?!?

As someone who's journeyed quite far to attend multiple Phil runs at the Cap, I feel a little less appreciated. Sure, I've bought TM tix for non-Cap events in the past, but the Cap felt a bit like home turf for me as a Phil guy, like there was a little extra consideration for my end of the experience.

Exactly, hammer. Comments on the Cap's Facebook page would indicate you are far from alone in feeling that way.

6, make that one more comment of disappointment on the Cap's FB page.

Oh-no! These tickets went fast and we're unable to find more right now.>>>>

LIES !

"Guess the MSG rumor for Phil's 80th isn't happening.

Not sure about that, just as good a chance that he'd play the Capital.  But the idea that this was going to happen at MSG was always crazy talk, Phil couldn't sell out half that place these days.

<<"Rob Barraco is set to join Phil Lesh & Friends at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY on November 2." >>

Source, please.

>>>Phil couldn't sell out half that place these days.<<<

That would depend on who the "Friends" would be that night.

Shappy is very good at putting together big one-off's, and I could see him getting lots of BIG name people to come out for an 80th Bday party.

With big names on the bill people would travel to it, and that along with the east coast's endless love affair with all things Grateful Dead would make it pretty easy to sell out one night at MSG. Hell, I might even travel to see that. I was at his 60th which was a rager, and his 70th which was an epic rager; it would be great to be at Phil's 80th, which I'd bet would rage as well.

Hopefully we'll see something large like that, which while often laborious would also be very cool.

Ultimately though I'm just hoping that Phil is feeling OK and can get back on any stage and plug in again, because there's still no one like him.

GO PHIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'll be joining Phil Lesh & Friends at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY on November 2.

On Oct. 18, I'll be filling in on keys/vocals with the band Jerry's Middle Finger at Casa Escobar Malibu!
>>>

Thanks Noodler!  He'll do. ;)

What we know now.

Rob Baraco there on saturday is an encouraging sign.

Phearless leader Phil seen out in public recently is also an encouraging sign.

"That would depend on who the "Friends" would be that night."

Even considering the best of all worlds (Q lineup and a few of the other A-listers) I just don't see it happening.

A full on reunion of the Core 4, maybe.  But that's not going to happen.

If we have a few quality additions and they do a ticket drop of a few front row loge would you reconsider? It could happen.

tickets should be $15 for no lineup, no rehearsal.

One last show rockin the sweater vest.

Has anyone ever been ZOTY Back to Back Chicken Shack?

"b" lister

sorry

take what you can, and leave the rest......

Newberry would have my vote.

Last minute loge ticket drops are always tempting.  But the lineup would have to be worth it.  A trip to the Capital for me is a $500 night out (loge seat, hotel, travel, food, etc.).  I can stay home and watch the stream and listen to it through my Magnepan's for $30.

"and I could see him getting lots of BIG name people to come out for an 80th Bday party."

Hard to see what big name folks that haven't already played with Phil would be there.

And the problem with this type of gig is that a flow is never established.  Think Rain Forest Benefit.  Lots of people coming and going and if any type of energy is actually created (which never really happened that night anyway) it is soon dissipated by the inevitable changes in the lineup.

Great shows are the ones where you can settle in and ride the tiger all night long.  That never happens at a gig with a ton of special guests.

^^^^Agree.

About multi-night runs too. I've never caught a run where the personnel changes substantially night to night, but I know they happen. It's enough of a challenge to get a band to its trajectory by the third night.

P.S. I hope Phil is feeling better each day!

I don't disagree that ever-changing performer shows lack cohesiveness and I generally don't care for them, but that doesn't mean tix wouldn't sell with the right names and the right promotion.

If Bob Weir, John Mayer, Trey & Gordon, maybe Carlos Santana, Elvis Costello & Diana Krall and other big-name artists who aren't normally associated with the GD or Phil (Dave Matthews? Dylan?) were there and it was promoted the way Shappy can promote, it would sell.

It probably won't happen, but it's a mistake to under-estimate Shapiro & the endless power of the Grateful Dead. No one thought Fare Thee Well would work, especially at those prices, and it was Shapiro who made that monster happen.

Those five shows sold over a quarter of a million tickets, and could have sold many more. Considering that in 2019 GD cover bands can sell out major venues and Dead $ Co. continues to be a massive success, a one-off Phil Lesh/Grateful Dead celebration at MSG would not be too big a challenge for Shappy.

And please stop this ZOTY nonsense. I tried to pawn my award last year and the guy laughed in my face.

No thank you.

>>>>I don't disagree that ever-changing performer shows lack cohesiveness and I generally don't care for them, but that doesn't mean tix wouldn't sell with the right names and the right promotion.<<<<

For sure

I'll take a Phil run with Nelson and Sless or Warren and Sco or Jordan and Bowling or...

...anytime over the FTW shows; yet, no combo of the abovementioned players would result in the ticket sales that FTW produced.

In fact, my obsession with attending FTW eventually morphed into attending the Nelson/Sless Cap run in Nov of that year, and I couldn't be happier with the way things turned out for me (though I'm a bit dismayed at the recent Cap alliance with Ticketmaster. I left a message on the Cap's FB page urging Pete to change his mind. The message was "seen," but no one replied).

Thom.. maybe the Last Waltz is sort of an exception. I do agree these giant open mic type shows with some names are generally not much more than giant open mics with big names...who need to be paid.

Anybody else giving The Cap some shit on their FB page over the Ticketmaster partnership?

Given the history of this group, I figured a full effort of subversion would be underway by now.

Have we sicced Timmy on them yet?

I send direct messages to the CAP frequently -- mostly how the lack of a Phil lineup makes it difficult for West coasters to make cost-efficient travel plans.

Ticketmaster will definitely be the topic of my next message!

Set the record straight, LLO!

Well, there's always Decelerate & Co. for two night at MSG 11/1 & 2.

>>>>I heard the run is going to be canceled.<<<<

So far, it looks like tix are still on sale.

I hope Phil is fine.

>>So far, it looks like tix are still on sale.

It's hard to turn around the Ticketmaster behemoth once it starts rolling.

>>>>I heard the run is going to be canceled.

my sources are saying the same :(

Oh no, I wasn't planning on going but that rumor is not a good sign.  Speedy recovery Phil!

Hoover: May we please know the source of that rumor? How reliable?

Wondering if his source is facebook.

Yeah Hoover, spill it. Come on.

I've taken the last two Cap runs off but back with a vengeance on this one. Weird premonition this is the Last Time. I don't know.

do you guys like jackie greene's mexican girl?

It is slightly better than Like a Ball & Chain.

Not sure if that is a compliment.

Nothing officially announced yet. Lots of rumblings & ugly rumors. Either they announce the line-ups soon, who's playing with Phil or they announce the shows are cancelled. The silence from Phil's camp is awfully loud. I guess we'll just have to wait and see?!?!

>>>>>Yeah Hoover, spill it. Come on.

What about your source?

"Thom.. maybe the Last Waltz is sort of an exception."

Agreed, but the difference is that The Band played songs pretty much the same every time.  That makes it a lot easier for someone to jump in as a guest, playing improvisational material requires a bit more of a mind meld.

Too bad if this run gets canceled, but I won't be surprised given Phil's condition these days.  Frankly, we're lucky to still have the guy around considering what he's been through.

LOL - new post on the Phantasy Tour "Phil Cancelled" thread.... but no source provided....

"expect an announcement VERY soon
I've heard they are offering a 'replacement' band, rumored to be DSO (not kidding) as an option over a refund.
I know a few West Coast peeps that were flying in that are royally pissed and are diverting to Dead and Co @ MSG"

Phil camp knows that even if they pull the plug at the last minute people will still come back. I'm sure Phil wants to be there but reality is probably not on his side.

My worthless opinion:  Do the fans a favor and cancel now.

Lol DSO

shill-o-ween

DSO IS available. This should be fun.

I should have asked the kid if he knew what was up with Philoween when I saw him on Monday :-)

They’re going to cover an 08 Jackie Greene PLF show

>>>They’re going to cover an 08 Jackie Greene PLF show

Mexican Girl alone should be worth the price of admission.

It’s sad is what it is. Phil is not getting any younger and we are finally having to face up to this kind of thing. The wheel is turning. I wish him a recovery and a soon return.

"They’re going to cover an 08 Jackie Greene PLF show"

Even better, do that disastrous Ryan Adams gig at that little bar.

So if DSO subs for Phil will they give attendees a refund on the ticket price?  I don't mind DSO but I sure wouldn't be paying Phil prices to see them and I'd be royally pissed off if I ended up having to do so.

I can't see any circumstance that tickets would be transferred. What would be the basis, that's it's Grateful Dead music and it's all the same thing anyway? I mean sure but still.

Scrub the whole thing and have Grateful Shred play at Garcia's for $15 bucks.

DSO it is.

Nio one is giving up their sources. lol

Does this mean you're in Keith?

So my super-trustworthy source --who won't reveal his source -- said: "I was told that Rob Barraco took the 11/2 Phil show at the Cap off his schedule."

He also is hearing buzz about DSO.

Phil obviously needs more recovery time... and I certainly rather that he take as much time as he needs!

"I was told that Rob Barraco took the 11/2 Phil show at the Cap off his schedule."

Or just changed the name of the band he's playing with that night?

Phil has already canceled.  The venue and the tix service are holding onto the $$ until the last minute.

Maybe Phil could read selected passages from Edgar Allan Poe while relaxing in a plush leather recliner...spooky music and ominous lighting.

I'd be interested.

Ir wouldn't match The Raven from Baltimore in 1982.  THAT was fun.

Was that the last time they played Balto?

Ticketfly is giving shappy a big FU......that is the fly in the ointment.  Get ready to get DSO for phil prices.....no refunds.

Riot in Port Chester!

"Was that the last time they played Balto?"

Furthur played there 10/17/2010.  I don't think Phil has played there since the '99 show with Dylan.

>>>>Ticketfly is giving shappy a big FU<<<<

How so?

Did Ticketfly sell tix to this run before the switch to TM?

I'd be happy to see The Cap catch some flack for the TM move, but I'm not sure denying refunds to ticket holders is fair.

It's totally NOT FAIR, much less respectful, to fans.

I had Philton rooms on hold (cancelled now)... so glad I didn't buy tickets / airfare w/o lineup.

My source also dangled: Possible PLF reschedule for early 2020.

I moved my Philton reservation to MLK weekend because I was in a hopeful / betting mood yesterday.

Well, the Capitol Theater site is now listing the DSO shows.........as well as PLF. My guess is the shows will be postponed to reduce the amount that gets refunded.

Good catch on the calendar listing, just checked it out.

Looked at their FB event calendar and it is not showing yet, but some other aware fan posted this:

CAP.PNG

What's really funny is that if you click the buy tickets button for DSO TM says the show is sild out! LOLOLOL

Weird!

Good payday for DSO.

at PLF prices  DSO should recreate a 3 day GD run...

what if it's Phil with DSO all weekend. No special guests?

Jeff and Rob's first foray into PLF.

20 minute "Jump" by Van Halen. Notice Phil's backing vocals "jump", not off the balcony mind you

https://www.jambase.com/article/happy-birthday-eddie-van-halen-phil-lesh...

There is no way they don't do refunds. The purchased tickets say Phil Lesh on them, not DSO. If Phil's not there everybody can get their money back. If it's Phil WITH DSO then they'll just call it Phil & Friends and go on with the shows, which I'm guessing many would be happy with, but it's got to be that if the shows cancel it will be specifically because Phil can't do it.

I could see how if the tickets were sold on TicketFly but the Capitol isn't on that system anymore that could cause some delay in working out refund details, but refunds will be offered.

I would imagine that along with a full refund option (minus the fee's of course) they may try to do a cheaper DSO ticket and offer credit for the difference, but the delay in announcing the cancelation, even if they're not ready with a refund plan, is not a good look.

Heal up Phil.

I'm not seeing anything different on the Capitol website. Looks like Phil and Friends for 3 nights, nothing about DSO. Same info on the Cap FB page. Where are you seeing this Paul Woz?

>>>>>>>I know the lyric goes take what you can and leave the rest

No it doesn’t.  You made it a greedy Republican lyric.

It’s take what you need, not can.

Sounds like they preloaded event pages for DSO on the Cap site and accidentally went live before they were ready, but for long enough that some folks saw

Maybe Byren can get to the bottom of this conspiracy.

So let's review:

Accidental conspiracies.  Republican lyrics.  Refunds vs. replacements.

Ticketmaster vs ticketfly.  Riots in Port Chester.  Expected announcement VERY soon.

Selected passages from Edgar Allan Poe.  Rumblings & ugly rumors.

Bob Weir, John Mayer, Trey & Gordon, Carlos Santana, Elvis Costello & Diana Krall coming soon to a theater near you.

An' it's bigger than a drive-in movie ooooo-eeee
Bigger than a drive-in movie ooooo-eeee

Where are you seeing this Paul Woz?

It was on the Capitol Theater website for a few hours yesterday. Phil cancelled.

Not there now.

I saw the DSO listing on the CAP event calendar yesterday, too...if you went to the page for that date, it toggled between PLF and DSO for the same date...

Then I tried to post (image below) the DSO link from CAP site to the FB event page for PLF - lots of discussion happening there.

My post is still "pending approval" and the link on the cap site is now a 404 page.

CAP_0.png

Wow - still no update on this. Tm still selling tix and it's still on the cap website. If this were a definite cancelation I would hope they would not still be selling tickets and letting people arrange travel, lodging, and all that crap

Where I'm looking it says postponed ...on Ticketmaster !

Did they make announcement yet ?

https://www.ticketmaster.com/phil-lesh-friends-tickets/artist/806534

Capital website has DSO listed 10/31 - 11/2

https://www.thecapitoltheatre.com/events/venue/the-capitol-theatre/all

and no mention at all of the Phil shows anywhere on the site.   The prices for DSO are listed and are what you would expect (eg not Phil level) so I would assume that they are going to offer refunds to those with Phil tickets.  But it's strange that they are not saying a word about that, it's like the Phil shows never existed.  And Halloween has no tickets available, the other two nights have some but are asking for a presale code to get to.

????????????

I was just told they announced cancelation on facebook

What's ridiculous about that? Just that it took a while to get the word out?

well, there it is !

I am doing the Stringdusters in Philly...:)

https://jambands.com/news/2019/10/14/phil-lesh-postpones-capitol-theatre...

According to a statement from The Cap, “Phil’s surgery was a success and we are working with Phil to reschedule the shows and will announce new dates as soon as we can.” Tickets to the original Lesh dates will be honored at the rescheduled shows. Ticket refunds are also available at point of purchase.

Video of Phil making the announcement on there as well.

“I’m feeling really good, but the doctors recommend that I take more time to recover from the surgery.”

DSO will be doing Dead shows from the Capital.  If you're a DSO fan I imagine that will be good stuff.

This is old news

It's old news - but at least now Shappy finally made it official news.

Ridiculous that they didn't make if official earlier when they knew. It's like they held off so that people that are traveling will now be less likely to cancel. Plans and go to DSO. This rumor has been going around for 2 weeks already

Can't they crib a more interesting band together for replacement......   DNB?

Does this mean DSO is selling new tix for their shows?   That's going to be a tough sell two weeks out.   Could be empty.

Bet the resheduled dates will be the birthday shows in March 2020.

Nah, those will sell out anyway, so why leave the money on the table? This run will be December of January IMO.

So is Ticketmaster still in the picture?

Glad you're doin' OK, Phil!

Take all the time you need please!

The guys in Phil's band must be disappointed. Oh, wait....

RJ and the Terrapin Busboys will be happy because the new dates will probably include them

Postponed shows will b MLK weekend...and other news JRAD will b February 21 -23..that is all

No thanks to january i'm holding out for the birthday run. It wasnt easy getting my refund from ticketmaster, finally got it though. You have to call the fan support number not customer service.

thanks McKenna! reliable source?

I'd love go to JRAD at CAP again but I bet that'll conflict w/ DNB/ Hawaii.

Until I hear a Phil lineup first... no Phil for me.

The source was the head of security at the cap....was there last night for little feat w Larry Campbell ...Which was phenomenal...bk tonight for warren Russo

Until I hear a Phil lineup first... no Phil for me.>>

I keep telling myself that then end up giving in and buying tickets anyway. That will probably hold true for the birthday run. I'd expect Phil to go all in for friends for that wondrous occasion, haha ive been wrong before though.

Be kind !

what the hammer said

Speaking of TXR, Phil sang with Bobby last night at a private memorial for Robert Hunter. Bobby, Robin Sylvester, Rob Baracco, Jay Lane and Jackie performed.

There you go.

What was the setlist?
