I really don't know enough about Burr to have a gut feeling one way or the other, but can't help but wonder why he "broke ranks"?

I saw that bit in the article, but missed in in the report.
Nonetheless, I was thinking something along the lines you've stated ... although not necessarily re: particulars with Warner having seen proof.
Was mostly thinking in general terms of how a mob family case unfolds with core family members often being left until the latter stages to target; and in light of seeing Trump on TV talk about his "son". Of course he's his son (I have no reason to believe otherwise), but it kind of struck me that for an extreme narcissist like Trump: while he might not feel empathy like typical father might, it still doesn't negate the possibility of a form of deep embedded "loyalty" that goes along with the territory of a mob family.
I found an interesting aspect of the Volume 2 is how a lot of what was deemed obstruction occurred well after Mueller's investigation was underway; in particular, how said obstructive elements and the larger pattern are indicative of the strong possibility the OSC would likely maintain that such activity is likely to still be occurring in real time to this very day.
I also have suspicions the investigation was prematurely shut down by Trump / Barr & Mueller just rolled with it.
So, can't help but wonder if Burr is somehow being leveraged in something akin to a "dead mans switch" (as it relates to the OSC's investigation itself) that is being used to go after Jr.? Also can't help but wonder if there's care being taken not to "trigger" Trump not to go completely off the wall?
