What's new?

Forums:

Not much on my end. Any shows coming up? I haven't seen anything for a while and have nothing on my calendar other than Carrot Top.

Been panning Sapphire pay dirt, this time Yogo Sapphires from Montana

Today I got CPR/AED and First Aid certified for the first time in several years.

My son and I are hoping to volunteer for Rock med in the near future.

There's a Grateful Day Festival in Berkeley tomorrow and I hope to commiserate with former TXR folks and hopefully hear some good music.

Enjoy your weekend

I am clearly entering into a new era of oldness, as I couldn't motivate this week to get up to Oakland to see Ween, and then I blew off a great string quartet tonight, playing in a wonderful, tiny venue, because it was "all the way to SF".

That never would have happened a few years ago.

Sad.

I did go to a Warriors game last week and that was a blast, and I have the 49ers vs. the Cardinals tomorrow afternoon at Vanilla Stadium, which should be good fun (if the 49ers win it will be A LOT more fun).

Nothing much on my calender for the remainder of the month other than a couple of sets I am very excited about in SF next Friday with one of my favorite groups, the ROVA Saxophone Quartet. THAT should be seriously good & weird stuff, and I'll definitely motivate for that.

Melvin's JGB is playing near me next week at what used to be Moldy Don Q's in the Santa Cruz Mountains, and I always enjoy his shows, but again in this new era of oldness I'm not sure I'll get up there for that.

After that, other than a couple more 49ers games, including a Monday night clash against the Rams which should be a blast (the night games are always roaring good fun) I have nothing on my November calendar.

Sticking with the "old guy" theme, when I look through the concert calendar of the local BA venues these days, I've never heard of almost any of the groups listed, and the few I have heard of I'm not much interested in.

I suppose that's normal and that's OK, but now & then there are still some good ones (that I know of) that come along. When that happens I really have to focus on pushing myself to...

GO TO THE SHOW!!!

Nothin' wrong with hangin' 'round the ol' homestead.

Spending the weekend slowly evaporating alcohol. 1 lb of top bud washed with 1 gal of everclear. Should yield around a qp of rso. Time well spent.

Tom, Achilles Wheel are playing the Sweetwater on Nov 21st I think. Have you seen them yet?  Good ole rock and roll.

Wood, splittin' n stackin'

Nice Noodler,, it's November, how cold is the water you're panning in ?

Achilles Wheel?

All the way up in Marin?

Mark, common' now. I just said I didn't go to Oakland to see the great big league band Ween, or to SF to see a great string quartet.

Achilles Wheel in Marin? I'm aware of them and know them, but I don't go see the San Jose Giants either, and they're 15 minutes from my house.

But thanks for the suggestion just the same.

Good one, Burnz.

Noods, those have great color for Montana Sapphire!

Yeah. What was I thinking.

Little over 2 hr drive for me. Over a mtn. But I will be going weather permitting.

Closed on the new home last month, and have been in the process of moving and getting it live in ready while we finish up work obligations from an apartment. We sold about everything when we sold the house so , new couch, new 75" TV, new dining room table, and best of all a new sleep number bed.with that cooling mattress.

and here I am in the third floor walk up apartment wondering why the am I on a blow up matress.

it looks like Ft. Myers will have fewer shows, but Tampa and Miami are both less than two hour drive, but I will probably just stay home and fish (with ear buds in)

Congrats, Joe!

We're fielding offers on our place this day

Got all my music at the Q....

Nothing else happening until phish new year's run

Otherwise next week I take a trip for to buy our new home

Hope folks are doing as well as possible in these strange and fucked up times

Best thing read today (from Jim Page's FB)

"What if UFO's are just billionaires from other planets?"

that Melvin JGB Felton  show has been postponed until 1-27-22.

plenty of time to rally...

Wow, that Melvin change must have just happened, because I just looked at that place's calendar for the first time the other day and saw it listed for this week. Thanks for the heads-up on that.

And Mark, I was mostly kidding about the qualities of Achilles Wheel. They're good and I like them, but not enough for a two-hour drive.

Retirement. Yeah it suits me just fine.

Last night I went to Soquel with PeterT23 & Co to see Matt Hartle, Peter Lavezzoli, Jordan Feinstein, and our very own Zoner rep Burt!  Fantastic show and I had a ton of fun!

Michael's on Main!

That's a fun scene.

But damn Johnny, Soquel is a haul from Berkeley.

Excellent effort!

BTW Johnny, I was going to tell you about this place in Berkeley when I saw you last, but I forgot, d'oh!

Maybe you already know about it, Tom's Place, but it's a seriously off-the-grid setup, just a guy who has shows in his home, and the shows they put on are usually pretty outside, weird jazz. They had some good shows last month, but now it looks like nothing until May, but you should keep checking because it's a very cool, very laid back scene, and an easy way for locals to hear some really "different" music.

Good luck Jill, hope you get the big$

^^Thanks for the tip!  I didn't know about this scene, but want to check it out.

May be going down to Michael's on Main again this Sunday, as Peter L. will be playing there again.  Plus it's my turn to do all of that driving.

We did have time to check out the Monarch butterflies (and a Great Horned Owl!) at Natural Bridges and enjoyed a gorgeous walk on the Santa Cruz bluffs with a terrific sunset (and Venus with crescent Moon) at Capitola.

Good times

Got a silver dime in my change at the deli today, been a looooooong time since I've gotten any silver for change,, decades.

Nice one, Raz. I always check and still frequently find good ones in my spange - most recently a 1939 "wheat" penny. That '64 dime was the last year for Silver content in U.S. "silver" coins too.

Nice find, Rasputin. I like how the silver "sounds" different re: the change-jingle.

Now if you take that dime, along with a silver dollar, some alligator wine, mix that shit up together, and you've got yourself a weekend!

thanks Fabes!

and that is a sweet coin. when a dime comes to me it is my aunt marion

housestuff on the buying end fell thru as Alex hasn't got his solid job offer until Tuesday when he meets the guy in 3D

the cosmic part about it is that there is a home coming up on the market next week that is one of our top choices

if we all made it thru last friday's full moon relatively unscathed, we are a lucky bunch of mofos

happy impending moonday

moon in cancer for all you crabs ... lolol

omg the other cosmic thing is that last tues when house hunting day was supposed to happed, i did an instacart instead

had a delivery in Olney (C- neighborhood of philly) and a kitteh adopted me...clients and i were on their porch and when she leapt onto it; they were utterly terrified. so i scooped her up and away we went

she is a sweet and sassy calico who may or may not be preggo, as per the vet who ensured she was not chipped or fixed

vet said she def had the tell tale signs of being on the street and was pretty psyched we connected

House hunting is a stressful ordeal, take your time, keep calm and stay focused.

I just know you'll end up with a better place than your first choice.

Niiiiice on the meeeow.

This was new for me.

A  local gas station is having a raffle called, The 12 Guns of Christmas, and for $25 you can enter this raffle.  Beginning in Dec., they'll pick one name each day, and each day for 12 days some lucky person wins a nice firearm. Gift wrapping is extra. Happy Holidays folks,  from the planet that continues to search for intelligent life elsewhere, and for good fucking reason.
