What's the easiest to use Tablet for seniors?

Forums:

Hi all. I'm shopping for a tablet my mom can use to zoom/skype with her grandson. Mom is VERY intimidated by technology, I just bought her an Android phone because she was using a goddamned trac phone that almost never works...not sure if that's because she doesn't know how to use it for apps or if it's just a piece of crap, probably a bit from column a and some from column b. At any rate does anyone know of a good, very simple user friendly tablet they could suggest? I actually considered getting her one that's made for kids but that might be more advanced than her point on the tech curve.

Dise, you might want to consider getting her a Chromebook. You can pick one up for abot $300, and a lot of them have touchscreens, but they also have physical keyboards, which might make things easier for her.

That's what I'm looking for something she can type on and something that's super easy for someone who barely knows how to use google to set up. It has to be Verizon compliant so she can zoom/skype on it as well.

Verizon cellular, or WiFi?

Verizon cellular her wifi access is dotty at best.

Cellular is going to drive the price up, but Verizon has one LTE Chromebook that's still under $400.

The other way to approach this would be to set up her phone as hotspot that a Chromebook or tablet can connect to.

I'm paying for her to have Verizon cell service so really the tablet just has to be compatible, and mom has to be willing to learn how to use her phone as a hotspot...

LOL she's a retired Archeologist so she'd probably like that tablet more.

Amazon Fire Tablet is pretty basic and cheap. $49 and up. Not sure about the Verizon part.

Geritol?
