Weekend Freebie (Dave's Picks 36)

Forums:

Rhino really messed up the delivery of my copy of Dave's Picks 36 (Hartford 87) a while back, and it took them almost three months get it to me, but they ended up refunding my entire subscription for the year, so I don't feel that bad about it. The funny thing is about a week after I finally received my copy (#12278/22000), another one showed up in my mailbox, and since I've already profited because of this corporate mishap, I thought I'd share the wealth by way of a little number guessing contest to see who gets my extra copy.

Post a number between 0 and 100 (inclusive). The first post that comes closest to the number I've chosen--without going over it--is the winner.

I will email judit a PDF containing the number I've chosen right after I make this post as a way to verify that there's no shenanigans going on with this thing. And judit, I'm going to say you're eligible to participate as long as you don't open the PDF I send you until Monday.

Can it be that simple? Yeah, I think it can be, except to add that this offer is valid until 11:59 PM (PST) on Sunday, March 7, 2020.

Make sure you look over the numbers others have already chosen if you want to be eligible for this. (I'm looking at you, Earl.)

42. Kind offer.

I messed up a bit in the OP. The winner will receive #12278/22000 still in the shrink wrap. Mine is unnumbered.

Thanks for a cool offer!

Something similar happened to me with DP#33. I put the extra copy into a charity auction fundraiser for Tree of Life. I consider that a win-win for everyone. Rhino's mishap resulted in a nice donation for a very worthy organization.

So was the chosen number the last two digits of the serial number?

WALSTIB, I'm not really understanding your comment about fixing the end date and time, but you picked the winning number. Congratulations. My email is in my profile; shoot me a note with your mailing address and I'll get this out to you this week.

And yes, Joe Buck, the winning number was the last two digits of the serial number, but that's not why I picked it. 1978 was the year I first saw the GD.

Thanks for playing, folks. I have another giveaway in mind for the end of the month. Stay tuned for more details.

It's 2021 now, Mike.  Thankfully, 2020 is in our rear view mirror.  It's nice to see this year bringing more random acts of kindness.  It's a good thing.

Doh! Rack this one up as an example of I was blind all the time I was learning to see. Thanks for showing me the light, Dave.

Awesome

Mike it's 2021...

That CD cover artwork reminded me that the "Whalers" NHL teamed played at the Hartford CC. We sang along to Brown-Eyed Women "snowed so hard that the roof caved in"  our reminder to the roof collapse there in Jan '78! Many great times on those Fall tours.

Thanks

EMOTW

WALSTIB, I grew up in CT and remember the roof of the CC caving in, which was definitely on my mind whenever they played BEW there, and during Phil's earthquake space in April 82 as well.

Thanks again, Mike.

Enjoy the new tunes, WALSTIB!

I opened the PDF  this morning after seeing there was a winner (congrats WALSTIB). It had only one thing on it: 78.
