Website building/hosting advice

Forums:

Trying to set up a fairly simple website for the wife's Art shoppe.

Just need to post and change posts of her work so customers can contact her to arrange payment/shipping.

I looked at Wix and GoDaddy but don't know if I need anything more than a super basic to free version. Any thoughts?

I'm not sure of free versions.   When I was going to start a firm I was going to use Square Space.

Can she just go through Etsy or do they take too much off the top?

Etsy sorta sucks as a seller. She tried it. I'm down with spending $10-$20 bucks a month. Don't want to be paying a lot 2nd year as a lot of hosts have free 12montg offers. Just a changeable template with contact info would serve the purpose.

GoDaddy is a trophy hunter ...

But to your question:  if it's a simple site without a ton of traffic or a need for a high level of functionality / support, you can probably get away with most of the cheaper offerings that are out there.  I haven't looked at shared hosting plans in a while, but there are review sites that rate them according to up time, cost, support, etc.

If e-commerce is a possibility down the road, you might want to take a step back to evaluate under this consideration as well.

Thanks for the advice

it won't be GoDaddy
