I'm always amazed at how well single dudes cook for themselves.

If I'm flying solo it's a slice of cheese and a banana.

Oh yeah, sounds great. I don't think my stomach could handle raw habanero though.

For me Food is a Sacrament & a Ritual, I always cook very well for myself, especially since my retirement.  I know folks for whom Eating is nothing but an Inconvenience, they'd subsist on a whole tour with a cooler full of nasty tuna sandwiches on white bread, but they are skinny & thus presumably far healthier than me.  But I wouldn't trade the Enjoyment of Good Food for Anything, I have No Regerts . . .

I cook large portions then keep the leftovers for multiple future meals.  Or if there's shrimp, crab, or lobster in the meal, I just pig out on the whole thing . . . 

yeah teh seafoods dont keep too well..

my fave super quickie dinner is a sausage burrito...

1 sausage, some beans, rice, onioms, wrapped up in a corn tort, hot salsa..... cheese.... 10 minutes.... and off to bed!

Sounds like a tasty dish but not a Cheese Steak. More like 'Bisteca Especial con Chile Relleno'.

A cheese steak is sliced-up Cow, grilled and topped w/ Provolone on an Italian torpedo roll from Amoroso's, Italian Peoples Bakery or similar.

I like mine w/ grilled Omion and Red Pepper.  If you have hot peppers involved it's a side, either Hot Cherry or Pepperoncini.

Grilling on a windy day last week:  2 Rib Eye steaks, 2 salmon fillets, green bean almondine, & steak fixin's (onions/peppers/shrooms/garlic) (notice the plywood windbreaks & grill up against the house):

Grillin' on a rainy day (today):  2 brook trout, 5 country pork ribs, & mixed veggies:

Left side = Fish, Right side = Meat, middle = Veggies

I will need a new grill soon, I've Disco-Stu-ed the burners into barely working several times in the last 2 years, not sure if the next time they will rust all the way thru . . .

I've never noticed anything wrong with the taste of anything I've grilled.  It's like Jambalaya . . .

I did notice that Scottish salmon is VERY fishy smelling while cooking, altho it tastes OK, so I usually avoid that type . . .

There's a story behind the Serendipitous "your gay" photo actually, not meant as a Diss to Jonny:  Last week I biked to the summit of the rail trail that goes by my back yard, where there's a tunnel beneath the ridge dividing the CT river valley & eastern CT, well, as I went by, this gaggle of 3rd or 4th graders were trying to read the graffiti in the tunnel, one of them says "What's a Bunghole?" so I just said 1 word: "BUNNGGGGGHOOOOLEEEE" just like Beavis in the movie when he's the Cornjulio alter ego, well kids always seem to know when something is "adult" so they all started saying it that way (their parents were nowhere in sight).  I turned around & headed home a half mile or so past the tunnel & on the way back the kids were still in the tunnel reading graffiti & saying to each other "You're Gay" "No You're Gay"  "YOU'RE GAY" & laughing.  So next ride a few days later I took my phone with me & tried to find the graffiti - didn't find Bunghole but did find "YOUR GAY"

There are very few foods that I genuinely don't like, and peanut butter is one of them. It really sucks because it makes an easy meal.

Couple o'pork chops browned then into the braising pan in veg stock.

In an hour in goes the cabbages and onions.

Paprika, salt, black pepper.

Simple, fab.

I am in effect a single guy until the better half returns from a work assignment in Michigan that started the beginning of April and lasts until the end of June. This coincides with me working 70-75 hour 6 day work weeks since the beginning of february. Needless to say, if I don't make a huge homemade batch of something on my one day off to use as leftovers like I imagine busy working parents do, my dinners have been made up of either take out, frozen pizza, veggie burgers, unsatisfying homemade quesadillas, or cheese and crackers. I'm going to make a very large salad later that I hope guarantees some roughage ingestion through weds.

Edit: Not sure if I actually know the topic of this thread.
