Very cool to see that video, but, "Jerry in red"... a clear reminder of that era and why I skipped that show.

Woof.

I know, I know, Jerry's awesome and was NEVER bad, yadda, yadda, and he really wasn't "bad" here, but.......

Not really that good either.

Those were the years I started saying that Jerry could walk onstage in his underwear and bang on a can with a stick and people would get up & dance.

I wish there was a video of the first SEVA benefit I saw at the legendary Berkeley Community Theater in 1981...

"Country Joe McDonald, Rosalie Sorrels with Mitch Greenhill, Jerry Garcia and Bob Weir, Mickey Hart, Kate Wolf with Nina Gerber & Ford James, Odetta, Wavy Gravy"

Odetta, OMG...... THAT was a show!

And another great SEVA show I saw was in '94 at the Masonic in SF...

"Country Joe McDonald with Stephen Barsotti, Keta Bill, Casey “Jones” Bastiaans, Annie Sampson & Will Scarlett, Richie Havens, Paul Kantner with Jack Casady, Tim Gorman, Diana Mangano & Alexander Kantner, Arlo Guthrie, Hot Tuna with Jack Casady, Michael Falzarano, Jorma Kaukonen, Pete Sears & special guest Bob Weir, David Crosby & Graham Nash with special guests Phil Lesh & Jeff Pevar, Wavy Gravy"

That one was pretty epic... Crosby, Phil & Nash was GREAT that night!

But still, nice to see this video, thanks for posting.

It's always nice to see Jerry.

Even in red.

Thanks for the video Noodler.  Good to watch on a sunny Sunday morning.

I'm with you, Lance. That 1981 SEVA show was a mind melter.

(as I recall, Jerry went right from Berkeley and played another show at The Stone that night)

+++++

The Wavy 50th Birthday show was another favorite of mine. It was an early show and a lot of people were upset who arrived late and missed Jerry.

Also, Jorma was the unannounced opener, and Jack joined him at the end for a little acoustic tuna.

Bob and Brent were great as a duo.

Ken Kesey read his story "Little Tricker the Squirrel Meets Big Double the Bear."

There was also Mickey Hart and a drum cluster.

And, of course, at the end of the show Wavy led the crowd in a rousing rendition of "Basic Human Needs."

I still have the paper bag they gave out.

Wow, that is really cool thanks for posting. I'm watching it on the big screen here at home. I can still remember where I sat for the show. Years later, maybe 2002 or 2003 at some show in Novato I brought my program and had Wavy sign it. He got a big kick seeing it again.
