Washington DC tourism

Forums:

The wife and I will be visiting DC for a few days in April. She's never been there. Last time I w+as there was Dylan/Petty/Dead '86. Looking for ideas of how to fill our days. Already have a visit to the Capitol booked. Can't visit the White House. Air & Space museum, Arlington Cemetery already planned. Where else should we go?

We're actually coming up from Charleston SC. So, other great ideas along the way are welcome.

Great international food choices

The National Cathedral was super cool

Can't visit the White House.>>> Don't flip the bird in that direction either. I know its tempting.

National Gallery Of Art.

The Smithsonian is my favorite.  https://naturalhistory.si.edu/

Most of the Memorials are on the Mall right in front of the White House.

Lincoln Memorial is the best. Jefferson Memorial you can walk or drive to from there. Just walking the lawn on the Mall in front of The Capitol is fun if you think about all the past history from that exact spot. National Zoo is nice. We have a few nice venues in DC, you may get lucky and have a good show available somewhere. The double decker tour buses look like fun.

Baltimore aquarium is a short drive up 95. And yes The National Cathedral is super cool.

Just a friendly suggestion to keep someone out of possible trouble. You would probably be ok if you really really had to do it.

I have been to DC three times and still have not seen all I want to.   My son is living there now so its a good excuse to get out there again soon.    Things I haven't seen but want to include:  Ford's Theater, the "Exorcist Stairs" in Georgetown, more of the Smithsonian (one could spend a week there), and the new National Museum of the American Indian (just checked out the first floor last time I was there).   Also would like to see the Manassas Battlefield in northern Virginia.

If you l like planes and rockets, go to air and space at Dulles airport, they got a space shuttle and everything that ever flew

Mount Vernon

Ford's Theater

The National Arboretum (if the weather is nice)

The National Zoo

The Spy Musrum

The FBI

The Library Of Congress

Catch a show at The 9:30 Club, The Birchmere or The Barns at Wolf Trap

Don't forget to get your legal mj delivered, if you are into that kinda thing. I found some edibles and the National Portrait Museum to be a good match. Also National Archives  has some cool docs displayed. Truth is, there is too much to see so just pick some good ones and have fun.
