Warfield Balcony Seating vs. GA

Forums:

He's a question for those who have been; finally getting to cross the Warfield off the music venue bucket list this NYE for the Claypool/Lennnon show and was just wondering if there are pros/cons to getting GA tickets vs. sitting in the lower or upper balcony. I figure sound will be fine from almost anywhere in the venue and am leaning towards upper balcony seats but would love some pertinent venue info if there is any. Thanks in advance.

balcony gets hot. but you have a spot/seat.

On the floor you have to stand and contend with the comings and going of people, but you are eye level wih the stage and there are plenty of bars etc. The upper balcony can be hot and it's farther away than you think. Lower balcony and Loge is the best option of you want a seat.

If you are in the back on the floor under the balcony the sound can be bad

If you can get a good spot on the floor and hold it (along the rails at the front of each level is best for that) then those are REALLY good spots, but otherwise, especially if it's sold well or out it gets pretty tight down there, and a NYE show will go longer than a regular show.

I've always said that the front three rows (AA, BB & CC) in front of the lower walkway in the balcony at the Warfield are the best seats in the Bay Area, but since Goldenvoice took over and put in a different sound system I've generally found it to be BLASTING in the lower balcony, while the sound in the mid to upper balcony is much better than in the old BGP days.

Personally I have generally preferred the balcony at that venue, but one thing to note is that the seats are tight and legroom is almost nonexistent, so if you're tall you better make sure you get an isle seat. And it can get pretty damn hot & stuffy up there.

If you decide to go old-school and get GA I'd just be ready to invest the time during the day to get in line early to be sure to get a good floor spot. That way you also get the Market Street show as well, and that show is often better than the actual one.

Good luck!

When he is not wrong (which is often)

lance is wise

I do remember Lance buying me a beer near there long ago

first teir up on the floor near that rail is absolutely the best fucking spot

While I am in a somewhat crippled State,

i cannot sit still

I need that floor spot - Or I abandon my seat

And I rarely put my hat down over my forehead

because I don't wear one

the floor rails (behind the rail) is the way to go, but gotta be early in line.

Front of the rail you get squished eventually.

I've had great fun in the balcony in lots of different spots, nice 'cause you have a spot.

Thanks for the info everyone, especially the temperature differences of the sections. Gonna go with some lower balcony seats along an aisle.

I figure this and the Zero show we are seeing in Crystal Bay on 11/23 will make for some nice musical bookends to the holiday season this year.

It's gonna be fun.

Good call. You can never go wrong with those.

Happy New Year!!!

Sounds just like Beacon seating
