Vote for Mylar?

Forums:

I've been nominated in a new pigeon hole this year. Singer/Songwriter. OK.
This years Sac Music awards have been politicized with a boycott by some of the more popular nominees. From what I gather, the weekly rag that sponsors the awards and the now-canceled ceremonies, published an article, which had nothing to do with music, but became controversial. The people who got upset are holding an anti-SAMMIES show on the same day as the awards show was to be held.

This is all very confusing to me, as I just play music and was unaware there was even an issue until someone asked me if was going to participate. I must confess, I do not read the magazine, since I seldom see it. I do not know details, so I cannot take sides or judge. I did not withdraw my nomination, as others in Sac music "community" did, because others are responsible for the nomination. I don't think it is fair to them, whoever they may be, since they were the one's who nominated me in the first place.

I have never been asked to perform at a SAMMIEs awards show and have not been asked to perform at the anti-SAMMIES event either.
Bottom line is the voting will continue and the winners will be notified after the voting deadline, which I think is at the end of next month. I always thought music was given more to collaboration than competition, but I understand winners do get some of the better paying gigs around town. Better pay = more dough for those who perform with me.
sammies.com is the place to vote, if anyone is so inclined. Thanks.

She's Been Around The Block lyrics
Born, a baby on the street. No shoes upon her feet.
She's Been Around The Block
Nobody ever there. Nobody there to care.
She's Been Around The Block
She always wants to run, but she can't even walk.
She's Been Around The Block
She's lookin' for romance, but she can't even dance.
She's Been Around The Block

She says, "Okay. Have me your way. I'll be dead and gone someday."

She grew up in the bars. Lived Inside of cars.
She's Been Around The Block
She met a lot of guys. They gave her lots of highs.
She's Been Around The Block
She needs to feel warm. A needle in her arm.
She's Been Around The Block

She says, "Okay. Have me your way. I'll be dead and gone someday."

She never broke the law. Took only what she saw.
She's Been Around The Block
She can't remember who, She uses now for two.
She's Been Around The Block

Mylar please run for Governor of California.

^ I tried that in 2003 during the free-for-all recall election, but, like everyone else, lost to the Governator.
I don't think I'd make a good politician, anyway. I find it hard to lie, cheat and steal and my womanizing days have been over for at least 35 years.

bump for Mylar!

done

good luck!

^Miss you too, Ro! I may be playing with some friends on 4/7 at the Twin Oaks Roadhouse. Maybe we'll see you there.

i always thought ...1 person, 1 vote

but .....good luck mylar

One of my bass players was in a Sacramento band back when the SAMMIES first started. They used to put printed ballots inside the Sac News & Review (sponsors) weekly rag. People were to fill them out and mail them. You know, with a stamp and everything.
He told me the first year he and his band mates would follow the delivery trucks around town and take every paper that they delivered. Then, they and their friends would fill out the ballots and mail them in, using return addresses picked picked out from the phone book. They not only won hands down that first year, they were inducted into the SN&R hall of fame.
Looks like the game can still be rigged. surprise

I didn't win, but thanks for voting. Lost to the up and coming Jessica Malone http://www.jessicamalonemusic.com/
She's got good backing and management. Looks like she'll be touring up and down the west coast soon. Check her out, if you get a chance.
Tonight, I'll have at least 3 SAMMIE winners joining my show.
