Is Van Morrison worth 250.00?

Forums:

He's playing three shows in February at the tiny jazz club Yoshi's in Oakland, about 250 people packed.

For me personally Van these days isn't worth that, even at Yoshi's (maybe 10 - 20 years ago) but for others it sure will be, so if any of you are interested and you didn't already know about the shows the presale is this Thursday. Here's the info...

Olympia theater in Dublin was like 25 bucks some 20 years ago and yes it was worth it

Most expensive tickets I have ever purchased was Van Morrison at $150 a pop at the Wamu Theater in Seattle.   Worth every penny but wouldn't do it again.

$250 haaaahaaaaa not on his best day back in the 70's

Caught him on his birthday in 90, he was fucking horrible, not worth a nickel

yes if $250 ain't no thing.

i'm seeing dylan friday for $100...

I’d pay that to see van in a club

No, you could take a cheap weekend getaway for that much $

Van rocks but Nobody is worth $250

2 hours of Meh

Fuck the Bucketlist at that price

>>>i'm seeing dylan friday for $100...

Good luck, after his Frank Sinatra covers tour, I will never pay to see Dylan again.

Ghost of Yoshi's Past

pay for the early show stay for the late...

well i don't anticipate a sinatra tour.

don't have many expectations but he is playing at my work so its kinda a no-brainer.

Have fun.  Setlists from Europe this year look like a hits tour.

>>>Setlists from Europe this year look like a hits tour<<<

For Dylan or Morrison?

>>>>Setlists from Europe this year look like a hits tour.

I think he was referring to the Swedish hard rock band "Europe" who had that hit song "Final Countdown."

Paid $80 in '96.  Worth every penny.

Saw another show that was good, but not stellar. But I wouldn't pay $250 for any band.

Yeah Knot, that's gonna' be a real good one. Phillip Greenlief is one hell of a trippy sax player and Scott is always a killer. I'd be there for sure but I'm seeing Nick Cave at Davies that night.

Besides, this thread isn't about what one can see for less, it's about what one thinks of Van the Man.

Even at this late stage of his career I'd love to see him at Yoshi's, but I can't pull the trigger at 250.00.

If I knew he'd be playing nothing but his best works I would, but I doubt I'd be satisfied with the set list, and he's not the performer he once was.

Still, as a performer well known as one who can have crap nights and GREAT nights, if I could get in cheap I'd do it just for the chance.

Anyway, I hope anyone who wants to see this gets in.

That's an ounce of top shelf.

No.

Some shows would be worth it.  Many big name acts are charging $500 and up for pit passes to their shows, so I'm sure many of that crowd wouldn't blink twice about $250 tor a club show with a seat, table, food and drinks.

I haven't seen Van since his NOLA Jazzfest set in 2017.  It was decent but nothing spectacular, and I bailed on it after a half hour in favor of catching the Marsalis Family Reunion set.

If you haven't seen Van and have the extra scratch, you should do it.  A legend up close is a memory you'll keep forever.

I remember paying $35 to see The Rolling Stones in the 90s adjusted for inflation that’s about $60. Something’s worth is determined by what someone is willing to pay for it. I know what PT Barnum would say

WIth only reading your thread title, YES!! He is worth every dime. Those Yoshi shows will be amazing. I hope to be there.

I got my tickets

Alright Woz! And go troubador!

And Knot, I saw the Greenlief/Amendola/Dunn trio tonight in Palo Alto. I chose that over The Waterboys at the Fillmore, who I've seen many times before.

It was really quiet, trippy "outside" music, glorious but only an hour set. I guess hoping that playing with Phil recently would inspire Amendola to embrace the longer sets concept was dreaming. It was still worth the $20 I and the 30 other people there paid to see it.

GTTS!

Worth 250.00>>>

depends on if you want to see a guy banter for two hrs and sing shalalala all night.

Van in Hawaii is probably $50.

$292.10 with fee.

Wow.
