Ultimately, the Grateful Dead were an East Coast band.

Undeniable really.

My wife just saw Roky in Philly. She said the people were really nice.

I'm telling Snoop!

Not sure how I feel I'm Bi-Coastal. I said I'm Bi-Coastal ese!

I've been blessed special shows on both coasts!

Boston, NYC, Philly, DC vs Bay Area & Oregon

Advantage East Coast

Did the Allman brothers live at a casino in Connecticut?

Well, they prob. made more bux in the East - other than that, no.

Don't believe the rumors, Slack, Philly's a great town.

>>>>>Don't believe the rumors, Slack, Philly's a great town.

They even have a Morimotos.

shut up

Were there more deaths at East Coast shows?

Slack believe the hype. Have you met Phillies & Eagles fans. I rest my case.

Lot's of good Philly people. In the bay area that is.

Undeniable really<<<

Interesting (minor) "troll"

I hear "There are fine people on both sides, really."

And some "bad dudes" as well.

Hell's Angels

Pagans and Warlocks over here.

Passaic, New Jersey will probably never produce another musician as talented as that Garcia kid.

East coast? Bah!

You mentioned roasters, pyramid, how about coffee houses? I used to frequent one on pine, but that was long ago.

 >>East coast?

B  AH!

go to function coffee labs if you want high quality, it's the best in the city. you live in the city? it's located at the corner of 10th and carpenter.

they don't roast, but they make stellar pour overs/aeropress and espresso w/ some of the absolute best beans possible. also they do coffee shots-which pretty much is an espresso shot but pulled w/ filter coffee beans. it's superb.

also reanimator is nice, the spot near master where they roast, not the one in fishtown.

nice warehouse space where they roast and have an area for their coffee shop. real clean. mellow. not obnoxious

Haven't lived in Philly since 2002. Lived in Fairmont back then.

To clarify, I mean they were an East Coast band from a performance standpoint. On a metaphysical level, its probably a different story.

Here's a great tribute to Barry Bonds by a number of committed Philly's fans:

I do not get your premise at all.  They all lived in Ca, their home office was in Ca, they started in Ca.  Your premise would make every successful rock group in the world from the East.  Were the Beatles from the East, Pink Floyd.

Sometimes I have no idea why in post in these silly threads

Peace and Love.

Almost all the shows I saw were on the east coast, but I mailed my ticket requests to San Rafael.

The east coast had the ways and means, but the west was (and still is) home.

Ultimately, loud & pushy get all the attention

Take a step back?

the west....

is the best

or, so ive heard

Most people in the SF Bay Area who talk to me about the Grateful Dead are from the East Coast.

Shortened that for you.

The GD could never be a West Coast band as the foundation on the music, of the mind, of the spirit, was to....go.

By nature, their true black-matter and chaos could only be actualized away from the personal comforts of the Bay. The East Coast was able to germinate their vision and in the end, become symbiotic.

Barry, David Hasselhoff is loved more in Germany (and Berlin especially) than in the United States. This is not an uncommon scenario.

Ea$t Coa$t?

Grateful Dead are the best and most famous band ever from San Francisco.

The premise of the thread subject escapes me. The band was from the west, they played all over. Their sensibilities were their own.

Delete the thread.

It's bannin' time.

She turned me into a newt

Well, originally they were only on the west coast and had a following in NYC and that was pretty much it then obviously expanded upon that obviously. East Coast had more venues prob more pay. I mean you have Philly NYC, Boston in a five hour driving radius. Not hard to figure out why they and every band that has ever made it on a grand scale tour the east coast heavily.

Lol, Mark.

Guns N Roses and Motley Crue were West Coast bands with huge followings in the East
