Ukraine

Forums:

Hope I'm wrong but I would be very surprised if we make it through the winter without a full Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Good chance of it, ya cant trust that putin. That fuckers main concern is restoring the soviet union, wants all the iron curtain countries back too. He's right out of the school of stalin. Having russia + china as part of the UN Security Council assures world chaos.

What happens to Ukraine if they lose to Russia?

"Progress"

>What happens to Ukraine if they lose to Russia<

They would likely become a kleptocracy and a Russian puppet state.

It would be a dumb move by Putin.   The Ukrainian military has been building up for the past several years with Western aid and is not the same ineffective fighting force it was back in 2014.   Plus, the West would impose crippling sanctions on Russia.     Not to say that people don't do stupid shit.

> It would be a dumb move by Putin.

Invaded Ukraine would be a dumb move by Putin, but using the threat of invasion is a pretty savvy move.

Russian Foreign Minister says Soviet controlled countries are "orphaned". Time for Papa Putin to bring them back home.

"NATO has become a purely geopolitical project aimed at taking over the territories orphaned by the collapse of the Warsaw Treaty Organisation and the Soviet Union." said FM Lavrov in his recent interview.

Well, there is a full on revolution happening right now in Kazakhstan and Putin is sending in "peacekeeping" troops.   This should keep him distracted for a while.

BTW - Kazakhstan is the world leader in uranium production and second largest Bitcoin mining country in the world.

Would invaded Ukraine become The Ukraine again?

Borat says in addition to uranium and bitcoins khazakstan is also world's largest producer of human pubis.

If Kazakhstan falls, can Elbonia be far behind?

I gotta stop saying ' can things get any more fucked ?'

Every time I do things get more fucked

The last time Russia encroached on Ukraine - the take over of Crimea in 2014 -  I asked a Ukrainian I work with (she lives part of the year in the Ukraine due to visa issues) I was surprised that she was so ambivalent about the situation, saying that Ukraine was so corrupt that Putin wouldn't be any worse and many in her country identify as being Russian anyway. I know the geopolitical consequences of doing nothing but maybe the US doesn't need to get involved with this mess?

Pile on the sanctions. If enough oligarchs can't access their funds and toys, maybe Putin gets the special soup this time.

Well Biden said today he thinks that Russia will move in.

What exactly are the sanctions?

>>>>What exactly are the sanctions?

I assume it would include, among other things, Germany and the EU closing the Nord Stream pipeline and otherwise stopping the sale of Russian natural gas to Western Europe.

I wouldn't count on them closing the pipelines. Germany decommissioned all of their nuclear power plants. They need the gas.

France has over 50 nuclear power plants.

Damn, could this be a Russian namesake, LOL. (Druzhba)

Russia would love to have a port on the Black Sea...

Russian Oil accounts for roughly 50 - 60% of the nations exports, so be an obvious target for the west to boycott

No, he's practicing.

They are saying Wednesday is the day.   Still think someone will blink at the last minute, but this is really pushing brinksmanship to the limit.

Sabre rattlers gonna sabre rattle.

wasnt Trumps first impeachment for failing to provide adequate security aid to Ukraine??

Lots of very fertile farmland, lots of resources too; Uranium, natural gas / oil / coal, iron / manganese / gold / nickel / mercury, sulfur / graphite / salt....

I'm sure mudda russha could use a new location for sea ports as well (perhaps end a pipeline there?)

Meanwhile, high pressure with general westerlies should keep the region relatively dry until some showers currently over Europe push farther east later this week;

All quiet on the Eastern Front.

Will Putin be rolling two or three dice when he invades from Irkutsk?

Russia to US: "In the absence of the readiness of the American side to agree on firm, legally binding guarantees … by the US and its allies, Russia will be forced to respond, including through the implementation of military-technical measures." https://kommersant.ru/doc/5218858

if this is not a war message from Putin, it’s the closest thing to it.  Like  a Facebook manifesto published by a mass shooter just before he gets in his car to drive to his target.

American deputy ambassador to Russia was expelled today and this morning was marked by heavy back and forth shelling in the disputed Donbas region in eastern Ukraine.

Would still like to think Putin is still bluffing, but the signs don't look good.

They're reporting the expulsion of Gorman as new and an omen, but it actually happened a few weeks ago. From CNN.com:

Gorman departed Moscow last week, according to a senior State Department official, and returned to the US. He was expelled by Moscow earlier this year and was given two weeks to depart.

I think the mud is too deep to freeze solid enough for Russian Olympic Committee tanks to enter Elbonia.

Crazy shit I never thought I'd see at this stage of my life

They said that the invasion would follow some sort of false flag event or manufactured crisis.

Sure enough, the pro-Russian separatists in eastern Ukraine just announced mass civilian evacuations in response to alleged Ukrainian attacks and atrocities, opening the door for emergency Russian intervention.  Same old, same old Putin playbook.   But dude has little to gain and much to lose with this invasion.

Nothing good will come of it.  Ukraine is surrounded by Putin's forces, and the attack, or rather how the rest of the world responds, will embolden China to hit Taiwan. North Korea hits the south.

I am not advocating for war at all, no spot taken but the ball seems to rolling downhill and getting bigger.

Kind of weird how the Russians call Ukraine fascist and we call the Trump cult fascist.  No ideology or policy just power, tribalism, and fear.

I am just keeping the powder dry here on the New Republic of West Florida...

Boom!  Major gas pipeline in the separatist controlled Luhansk just blew up.   This is just hours after the Ukrainian government warned that Russian special forces were planning a major act of sabotage as another false flag operation.    The Russians have crossed the Rubicon.

Biden's planned 4:00 pm speech on the Ukrainian crisis has been postponed in light of this new development.

Agreed no good is going to come of this.

Just watched Biden's speech,  have several European friends convinced this war is going to happen...   ugly!

Looks like they've got several days of decent weather, as the previously mentioned showers are starting to exit the area;

Putin is fucking insane.

It sure looks like Putin thinks this is his big moment.

I've heard that Putin is the wealthiest person on the planet (allegedly, he hides his wealth by setting up oligarchs as fronts for his various enterprises).  Ever notice how most super rich folks are incredible assholes?

What is it good for?
Absolutely nothing!

Looks like he's been buying billions in western cash for months, preparing for sanctions...

Just like clockwork, Russian troops are now streaming across the border into the Donbas.   Question is do they stop at the line of control between the pro-Russian separatists and the Ukrainian forces or do they keep rolling west?

Can't believe anyone cares who wins this eastern Europe Hatfield and McCoys.

Nobody cares. Just the stock market. And that, people care about. Especially the wealthy.

A lot of people care because it matters in a broad sense with respect to security in Europe and Asia.

Do you want someone to die fighting for whatever this is?

If not, then you don't care who dies fighting for whatever this is.

The Stock Market is only pretending to care .

> whatever this is

It's a Putin flex, and people will die because of that. I'm guessing he's a big believer in the Great Man Theory.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_man_theory

Everyone voluntarily involved can die but why did they choose to when others didn't?

Who is fighting this war and what do they want?

and just like that, Ukraine just got a bit smaller.

 >>>>>what do they want?

Putin wants more land and the E. Ukraine industrial infrastructure.

The Russian soldiers are obeying orders - I'm sure most of them would rather stay home.

The Ukrainians want to keep their country.

>>>>The Russian soldiers are obeying orders - I'm sure most of them would rather stay home.

Keeping 190,000 soldiers out in the field in the Russian winter is no easy task.  I heard that many of the conscripts are cold, underfed, underpaid, and aren't exactly psyched to be stuck out the sticks waiting to be sent to die for Putin's ego and bank accounts.

Just read an account of the Russian soldiers in Belarus. They are racked by Covid, fall down drunk on moonshine, stealing anything and everything from locals, destroying the roads with their heavy equipment, selling guns on the black market, and taking all the fire wood to keep warm in their camps.

Here is a good feed if you want up to the minute coverage.

I just called the Ritz-Carlton in downtown Kiev and all is well.  They assured me there was no Putin on the Ritz.

>>>and just like that, Ukraine just got a bit smaller.

Just like 2014. Putin loves Democrats.

Racket hates Obama because he didn't go to war over some commercial real estate.

Slacker is excited for $9 a gallon petrol.

Petrol. Fancy.

Especially for trailer trash.

Triggered by trailer trash. smh. Buck up, snowflake.

>>> "no Putin on the Ritz"

Nice, Ken.

"Manufactured Home"

The world is now reaping what it sowed in WW2, allowing Stalin to eat up everything behind the Iron Curtain.

The high command wouldn't listen to Churchill who wanted us to take a road to Berlin through the Balkans, keeping Stalin out of eastern Europe. Then that pussy Eisenhower wouldn't listen to Patton and allow him to slam the fucking commies back to Moscow and out of Poland, the Baltics (Lithuania was the 1st country to declare their freedom from Russia after the Berlin wall came down) etc etc.

Don't think for a second pooty only wants Ukraine back, reuniting the USSR,, he wants back all the places Russian's bled for in that war,, all the lands we, the west,  allowed them to take.

The European Union, NATO, the UN ahahaaaaaaaaaa all toothless entities,, worthless at world security.

Fucking world history,, if not for us the Russians would all be speaking German and China would be speaking Japanese. Look how they pay the west back. Never trust a fucking commie.

The West, what a bunch of nutless monkeys. Now its too late to turn it around and we can only sit back and watch the world turn to shit.

The Greatest Generation fought that war, but some of the worst generation allowed the world to go the way of communism.

Sock troll

The world is now sowing the failure of American government which has slowly but surely abandoned it's role on the global stage and NATO. Starting with the Tea Party and culminating with Trump America's failed leadership during the Trump administration brought us here.

If you want to hang out, you've gotta take her out, Ukraine
If you want to get down, down on the ground, Ukraine

Ukraine

If you got bad news, you want to kick them blues, Ukraine
When your day is done, and you want to run, Ukraine
She don't lie, she don't lie, she don't lie
Ukraine

If your day is gone, and you want to ride on, Ukraine
Don't forget this fact, you can't get it back, Ukraine
She don't lie, she don't lie, she don't lie
Ukraine

She don't lie, she don't lie, she don't lie
Ukraine

>>>Then that pussy Eisenhower wouldn't listen to Patton and allow him to slam the fucking commies back to Moscow and out of Poland, the Baltic's (Lithuania was the 1st country to declare their freedom from Russia after the Berlin wall came down) etc etc.

Hmm I would say the fact that we just lost 400,000 Americans in WW2 played just a little bit of a role in us not wanting to sacrifice more Americans to stopping Stalin. Thankfully Eisenhower listened to the people, and you can hardly say America hasn't thrived since WW2.

Finally Stalin, Mao, Castro - none of them were communists. They just wrapped themselves in communism to give them a populist cover for their totalitarian and authoritarian atrocities.

Personally, I am glad there was never a direct hot war between the US and the USSR.

<< 400,000 US dead

Compared to the 10 million soldiers Russia lost keeping Hitler at bay. From 41 thru the end of the war we supplied the Russians with billions in aid so they would do the fighting and the dying. So much Russian blood spilt those years is why stalin believed he was entitled to expand russia to include iron curtain countries. Good thing we finally got our ass in gear in europe in june of 44 or stalin would have taken that too. And pooty is a true disciple of stalin to the bone, squashing all who dare disagree with him. The gulags are full again.

<< glad there wasn't a war with Russia

Nobody wants war, but Patton saw what stalin was all about,, (as bad as Hitler if not worse - triple the number of Jews, Gays, and Gypsies murdered by the nazis, and you have the aprox # of Russian citizens stalins death sqads took out) , and figured we could do the world a huge favor while we had the means.

Make no mistake, the Russians won WW2

I would travel to Ukraine and fight those commie bastards if I had family still living there.  Better dead than red motherfuckers.
