Double trouble for the Gulf Coast next week:

Double Trouble 1.jpg

Double Trouble 2.jpg

So the two storms are named Laura and Marco and will be converging on the Gulf Coast next Wednesday.

Per the great Roseanne Roseannadanna- "It's always something"!

Gonna be a soggy few days, fer' sher'.

Nothing a Sharpie can't fix.

So Laura got delayed crossing Cuba and Hispaniola and they wont be hitting at the same time.  Marco will hit tomorrow and Laura will hit Wednesday.   Both are expected to hit Louisiana.

Sally is on her way to New Orleans.  Earliest "S" storm on record.

Looks like a soaker

just hovering in one place spewing out,  oh the wind and rain

If only these red states would better manage the water and rain.

The science just isn't saying that Climate Change is responsible

get the nukes ready!

"Passed out in my hammock
God, I slept till way past noon"

Be safe Gulfers.

They should be raking that water from the forest floor!

Satellite images are incredible.

Going to be a soaker for Pensacola and Escambia County.

This season is already one for the record books.   They have blown through the alphabet of people names and are now using Greek letters to name storms.  Tropical Storm Alpha is hitting Portugal today and Tropical Storm Beta should be forming in the Gulf any moment now.

The 2020 Atlantic hurricane season is now the second busiest on record next to the 2005 season.   However, they didn't get to the Greek alphabet names in 2005 until October 22.

I've got a secret getaway scheduled for the gulf in a couple of weeks, and it was hit dead on by Sally. So far, looks like recovery is going well, and no one there was killed, thankfully.

Not done yet:

Tropical Storm Gamma.

While Gamma's forecast to meander, we've got a newbie to deal with...

In good news, Mars will be closest to earth on Tuesday, so give a look see...   (I might make a post for it)

Hurricane Delta, currently reporting 110kt gusts, will likely be arriving in the mid gulf on Fridayish

Delta went from a tropical storm to Cat 4 hurricane in 30 hours.   May get up to Cat 5 before it slams into Cancun tomorrow morning.  It will that area's strongest storm since Wilma in 2005.

Then its back over the Gulf straight toward the US.

Delta sets it's sights on the Mississippi Delta.  Expected to make landfall Friday.

10 landfalls in the US is an all time record........Global Warming?   I don't know but each year seems stronger and stronger.

They are calling for a Cat 3 now

but it seems like every huricane in the gulf these days end up strengtening beyond the forecast

After blasting Cancun, now back into the gulf to strengthen and grow....

Suppose the good news is that dry air has started to wrap into the storm from the NW at the lower levels, halting the storms intensification last night

HGX_loop_0.gif

Can see that dry air better on the mid level water vapor image...

Delta looks like it will follow more or less the same path as Laura back in August and has its sights set on Lake Charles, LA.   Was looking at some recent drone footage of Lake Charles and a quarter of the homes still have blue tarps up and there are still huge piles of debris laying around from the last time around:
