So Laura got delayed crossing Cuba and Hispaniola and they wont be hitting at the same time. Marco will hit tomorrow and Laura will hit Wednesday. Both are expected to hit Louisiana.
This season is already one for the record books. They have blown through the alphabet of people names and are now using Greek letters to name storms. Tropical Storm Alpha is hitting Portugal today and Tropical Storm Beta should be forming in the Gulf any moment now.
The 2020 Atlantic hurricane season is now the second busiest on record next to the 2005 season. However, they didn't get to the Greek alphabet names in 2005 until October 22.
I've got a secret getaway scheduled for the gulf in a couple of weeks, and it was hit dead on by Sally. So far, looks like recovery is going well, and no one there was killed, thankfully.
Delta went from a tropical storm to Cat 4 hurricane in 30 hours. May get up to Cat 5 before it slams into Cancun tomorrow morning. It will that area's strongest storm since Wilma in 2005.
Then its back over the Gulf straight toward the US.
Suppose the good news is that dry air has started to wrap into the storm from the NW at the lower levels, halting the storms intensification last night
Delta looks like it will follow more or less the same path as Laura back in August and has its sights set on Lake Charles, LA. Was looking at some recent drone footage of Lake Charles and a quarter of the homes still have blue tarps up and there are still huge piles of debris laying around from the last time around:
