Trump to pardon Sheriff Joe?

Forums:

You think he will announce the pardon at tonight's campaign rally in Phoenix to the cheers of adoring fans?

I wouldn't put it past him.

That seems to be the plan. Empower the Klan.

This sort of thing makes me wonder about the potential for a "Constitutional crisis"  ... as a hypothetical extreme, what if the absolute WORST is discovered in terms of Trump having a direct role in so far as colluding with Russians to actually tamper with voting systems?  Should Joe be thrown back in jail and Gorsuch removed from the SCOTUS, etc. etc.?

It don't work that way.

The racist sheriff wasn't going to go to jail for a misdemeanor conviction.

He should not be pardoned anyway IMO.

Almost as bad as Clinton pardoning Marc Rich (after making sure that both his Library and wife received generous donations), Susan Rosenberg and Linda Evans (hey, the Weather Underground was just trying to create a better world), and 16 members of FALN, a Puerto Rican paramilitary organization that set off 120 bombs in the United States (in a transparent attempt to help Hillary with the Puerto Rican vote).

If you are really thinking like this then you are suffering from severe mental destabilization and should get some help as soon as possible.

Cognitive dissonance is very interesting to say the least; hopefully, it will not ultimately lead to mass civil unrest and bloodshed.

The difference being that I doubt you can find a liberal who supported the pardoning of Marc Rich. Now remind me again how many Republicans still support Trump after he said there were "good people" marching with Nazi's.

Thom, how many times a day do you accidentally squirt a little pee out in your pants?

Just announced by the press secretary, no pardon tonight

>>>>Just announced by the press secretary

Like that will stop Trump from being Trump.

I can't imagine that even Trump would be so stupid as to waste political capital on a misdemeanor pardon for an 80 year old racist in the middle of a controversy over whether or not POTUS is merely kinda racist or mega racist.  Not that he hasn't confounded expectations before.

Still Addicted To Running For Pres and Not Being Pres = Which He SUCKS At !

I can imagine that Trump would be that stupid and pardon Arpaio.

I one hundred percent think he is that stupid, and they may still do it in a few days, just not tonight (assuming Trump doesn't buck the staff and do it himself from the podium, though with Pence there I think that's less likely).

thom loves racists. they make him feel comfortable.

Please tell me about this new statue-based method of learning history. Silly me I've been reading books.

There are more protesters outside the venue than supporters inside.

Statue-based history works like this:

Little Beauregard Xavier Butler is playing on the city hall lawn in Butfuck, Mississippi. He sees the statue on the lawn and asks Daddy what it is. "Son, that's a great man who fought for States Rights, and especially the right for your great great granddaddy to own niggras, like the good lord intended."

The rest of the country isn't learning shit from that statue in Butfuck, MS.

Gee, how will Dolt 45 spin that?

Overflow crowd...tremendously passionate.

My god, what a disingenuous piece of shit he is!

Republicans love him.

what a rambling mess of lies

seriously think he is mentally ill

pure insanity.

I didn't watch, I can't stand it anymore he makes me so angry. I'm watching the news now.

Did he really say he will shut down the government if he doesn't get his fucking wall?

I'll give you this bro:  you're kinda like the "camel of trolls" ... you can go a long time between "fillings".  I suppose this morsel will last you another two years?

I call "camel of trolls" for a band name

Lots of cops on the march for what looks like not too many unlawful assembly attendees.

Over not enough action for the police force. Cops are going home.

Maybe some of the good people on the right can explain to me how shutting our government down will get Mexico to pay for the wall

He was pardoned.

Sheriff Joe's Racist Rant

Coming soon to your local Sinclair affiliate.

Just when you think Trump can't be a bigger piece of shit he does something like this.

I even agree with old smelly feet (waves at Brian d).

Go fuck yourself, troll.

Can T. Rump self-pardon?

I told this to someone that asked me why I had a problem with Arpaio

I have a problem with a man that bragged about running a concentration camp and reveled in the culture of violence, cruelty, and inhumanity he instilled and perpetuated. Arpaio's actions led to the deaths of at least 160 people. The suicide rate in his jails was nearly twice what a comparable jail, around 24%. Between 1996 and 2015, 157 people died in Joe's concentration camp. This figure didnt include the number of people killed by guards or who's medical care was neglected. The latter would be adjudicated and found in violation of the 8th amendment for cruel and unusual punishment. The figure also didnt include the number of prisoners that died at hospitals after abuse by said guards. They even had deaths in their jails they where they couldnt classify how inmates died. This is important because of how cruel sheriff Joes jailers were. They were often accused of incredible abuse. A fact revealed in 13,000 lawsuits and 140+ million dollars in judgments paid out by the people of maricopa county. That was just the jail he ran. I wont even get into how he ran his police force as an organized, brown shirt goon squad that plied their trade on the backs of minorities, the poor, and his politcal enemies ( one of the cases for which Arpaio got into hot water was the imprisonment of two journalists ). Those aspects of Arpaio's cruelty dont have to be addressed in order to understand just what a callous, cruel, inhumane, and downright sadistic monster he gleefully, and repentantly, was daily. So, why is all of this important in relation to the power of the presidents power to pardon? While speaking to an assembly of police, Trump waxed poetic about the good old days when police could just beat, or abuse whoever they wanted without repercussion. His spokes people later said he was only joking. By pardoning Joe Arpaio, Trump reveals that he actually believes that abusing suspects is a perfectly legitimate aspect of police work. Additionally, he validates the use of power by the government that supports racial profiling and the inequitable application of justice. Trump further gives power to an anachronistic belief that is the foundation of the worst examples of police-citizen interaction. Its a belief that drastically undercuts the legitimacy of police departments all over the country. With Arpaio's pardon, Trump further reveals that he is wholly out of sync with the rest of our country and holds beliefs that are antithetical to the foundations of our republic.

Other than that, he's a great guy.
