Trump,,, here you go Trumpers ,sedition

Wake up. Curious to see how this spins out.

Is it sedition, or true love?

And… Colbert had a great joke last night about the US economic sanctions freezing two of the largest Russian banks… “There goes all of Tucker Carlson’s ad revenue”

Sedition, Mike.

:::: waves to Bryen ::::

That's what I thought, Jaz. Also, I had a hard time seeing Putin as a bottom, as the photo suggests.

I don't Twitter.  I copied and pasted this from another site.

Objectively, Trump isn't wrong. It was a savvy move on Putin's part. By recognizing those territories as independent entities he can justify sending in "peacekeepers" to protect his beloved Slavs.

It was also an expected and dickish move.

What part of what Trump said is seditious?

It might be treason more than sedition.

"Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort."

https://law.justia.com/constitution/us/article-3/44-aid-and-comfort-to-t...

Trump's words could be seen as providing Putin with aid and comfort on the world stage, in that they seek to legitimize Putin's actions, and then there's the issue of adherence.

Trump has definitely engaged in some seditious acts, and even some crimes that could warrant the death penalty. I'm still not sure how his statement about Putin meets any of those criteria.

Ok treason.

>>Trump's words could be seen as providing Putin with aid and comfort on the world stage, in that they seek to legitimize Putin's actions, and then there's the issue of adherence.

Trump is no more than a private citizen with absolutely no power. I hate to say this, but he has a right to his opinions, however douchy they are. We really need to stop giving him a bigger platform by reacting to them.

I believe the Cult of Trump, over on conservative media, is also saying the same things.

"Nobody has been tougher on Russia than Trump."

Trump is no more than a private citizen with absolutely no power. I hate to say this, but he has a right to his opinions, however douchy they are. We really need to stop giving him a bigger platform by reacting to them.<<

I disagree.  His words carry power to many. He's a disgraced ( IMO) former POTUS with still a shit ton of power, as ridiculous and unbelievable as it may seem.

> he has a right to his opinions

No doubt, BK, but when a former POTUS makes public statements about his thinking, those words do carry more weight than the words of an average citizen.

I just don't agree with the narrative that Putin is being savvy. All of these moves come from weakness. His country is racked by Covid. His economy is 100% reliant on natural resource extraction and computer hacking. He has to attack Ukraine because a thriving democracy on his border that rejects Russia and embraces the west negates his carefully crafted internal propaganda narrative.

If Putin were strong he wouldn't give a fuck what Ukraine did. He would be focused on expanding his influence in Asia and Africa, but instead he has to engage in a land war in his back yard.

It's classic Trump speak. Saying he thinks it's savvy or genius isn't condoning it

I agree, El Nino, it's a dumb-ass move that will further cripple Russia's economy. His justification is savvy (yet shallow). Putin doesn't give a shit. He's the wealthiest dude n the world. Although nobody really knows, I've seen estimates over $200 billion.

Seems like  Putin's mind is muddled.

Trump's just fluffing his future host for when he has to flee the U.S. or go to prison for his fraudulent business deals.

> Saying he thinks it's savvy or genius isn't condoning it

We could parse out the meaning of the word "condone" and how it relates to Trump's statement about Putin, but I think it's simpler to just say that Trump's words are an endorsement of Putin's actions. They sure aren't critical of Putin.

It needs to be mentioned here too that a lot of Trump's followers in the US, who number in the tens of millions, still hang on his every word, and his recent statement can only lead to greater divisiveness here in the US, which for long has been one of Putin's strategies.

Trump like Putin, is a dick. Both of them are really fucking good at it.

>>>>Trump is no more than a private citizen with absolutely no power.

He owns the GOP, he has been deified by them, that is a tad more than just being a private citizen. LOL

"Owns" is a stretch.  He commands a significant part of their base.  Then there is the part of the base that is more aligned with McConnell, Romney, Liz Cheney and the old Bush regime.  It's a turf war.

>>>Then there is the part of the base that is more aligned with McConnell

Small minority, the majority of Republicans can't get enough of the little tyrant.

He's still a private citizen, and his approval amongst Republicans is waning.

Many GOP politicians are power-hungry bitches. As long as Trump is a means to that end, he'll have power. As his legal troubles mount, and as he's farther away from the presidency, he becomes more of a liability.

It's great they there are a few zoners that will defend Trump no matter what...

...and I'm not talking about Brian.

I hope so ,Brian.

i thought commies were bad?

so confusing.

Meanwhile from the crazy left:

The US has all but declared war on Russia. It’s goal is to sever Europe from Russian energy, using Atlantic shipping lanes to feed Europe with North American fossil fuels. The US pushed oil and gas pipelines through Indigenous territories for a reason.

> the crazy left

I think "lunatic left" has more of a ring to it. And speaking of that bloc, I almost missed our little Blue MAGA bud for a second or two there. Almost.

Ex pres praised an autocrat who rules a one party state, poisons his opponents, who is poised to attack a democracy, calling Putin a genius and a peacemaker.

Simply beyond the pale that the GOP has taken this criminal gangster as their messiah...

On the other hand, pictures of dead Ukrainian children with Trump's words over them will be compelling campaign ads.

It takes a special kind of shit fer brains to be a repub these days.

The Black Plague was nothing compared to the damage trump has done.

>>>The Black Plague was nothing compared to the damage trump has done.

Not trying to give you shit just read the stat the other day and it blew me away. If Covid killed the same percentage as the Black Plague there would be 96 million dead Americans right now. As pandemics go Covid is pretty mild, but hopefully this will be my last pandemic -  mild or not.

That 96 million has to be a very conservative estimate. I believe that it killed 33-50% of Europe (they can only estimate). That would be 120-180 million Americans.

Personally, although I hate Trump and all he stands for (himself), I'd much rather live through 4 years of his presidency and the aftermath than I would the Black Death.

Being a Jew I would have been ghettoized, and most around me wouldn't have caught the plague.  But then I'd be blamed for witchcraft and causing the death of Christians, and they would have done some really nasty and painful shit to me and everyone I loved. That really would have sucked.

I wasn't equating # of deaths by covid vs plague you silly guys. I was equating the total damage done by trump,  (not sure its even peaked yet), and the damage done by the worst calamity ever inflected on humanity in all of history,, which may be a bit of an exaggeration,, just barely.
