Trivia: When did Weir first drop acid?

Forums:

"Q: At what point did playing gigs become what Jerry described as “religious services of the new age”?

A: [Long pause.] There was that component to it from the start. The first time I dropped acid was on Jerry’s birthday in 1965. Even then, the inner-quest was what it was about for us. And we never dropped that notion, it’s just that we added on other notions of what the whole experience could amount to as we developed our relationship with the Kesey outfit, for instance."

Q:..."Was the acid different back then?

A: [Long pause.] I haven’t taken it all that recently. I know that the spirit of the times, the zeitgeist, was quite different back then."

if its lsd-25, the acid cant really be different. lsd is lsd. there was always the theory that orange sunshine could have been ALD-52, and there are several RC lysergimides on the market currently, but those are just different compounds altogether.

i think a lot of folks underestimate the effect set, set and setting can have, and also underestimate how different your memories of taking acid in your 20s are vs the realities of taking it in your 40s, 50s, 60s and beyond.

Daylight, what are the RC lysergimides?
I notice different papers having different vibes or feels.
Wondering how likely some acids aren't acid these days?
I don't play around all willy nilly, and only trust trusteds. Still...

>>> "I haven't taken it all that recently".

I guess that was before he allegedly got dosed by a prankster at a Furthur show in NY (7/29/10) - or perhaps several years after.
