Wait...you listened to one
Wait...you listened to one song for 1040 miles?
When The Eagle Flies was their last real Traffic album, and i always thought it was Winwood saying he had already "flown the coop". The album did not do well, they toured after, but, basically broke up during tour...(or dates were cancelled due to lack of sales, depending on story, but they were done as a band long before this). The album came out in 74 and was def a last gasp to save things. They had already broken up once, at a time when they still owed their label an album. Winwood banged out John Barleycorn Must Die(1970) almost all by himself. He plays (at one time or another) every instrament on album. They release JBMD, break up, reform, write and release When The Eagle Flies (introducing the moog into their mix of groundbreaking instraments for rock) and then break up again...what a shame, because as OP proves...this band wrote , and performed some of THE best music of their time.
Thanks for reminding me to listen to this forgotten classic.
