Tool

Forums:

Scored a ticket earlier for my birthday night at Mohegan Sun (11/21).  Shaping up to be a nice little birthday week for me with Tool -> Phish x2.

Anyone else seeing Tool / anyone getting into the new album, Fear Inoculum?

Cool. I might check out the Mohegan show as well. Tix are fairly pricey, no?

My ticket was 150- figure'd it would be somewhere in that ballpark for pricing.  Small-ish venue for them too.  I've never seen them so am especially pumped.

F’n Tool

150 ? As in dollars ? For that band ? Hahaa I hate to tell ya who the real tool is.

Great contribution to the thread.  Thanks for playing.

Anytime, hows that shoe fit ?

I've never been a fan because I couldn't stand Sober. I listened to the live album a bunch. My friend played it when we were getting high at his place.

They're like angry Primus.

My colleague was just asking me if I'd listened to the new album and I had to say no.

I actually don't know much about them other than having several friends talk about how great their shows are.

Have fun!

i saw them a year or 2 ago at the gorge. it was impressive.

dark psychedelia.

the visuals were almost too much.

drummer's patterns are all sacred geometry.

heady shit.

My son was after tickets this morning - $280 cdn for floor and lower level. And that's with 2 arena shows in Toronto. Too rich for a high school kid. Or his dad.

Enjoy the show for folks going.

Heard some of the tracks off the new album.  Good stuff, but sadly no PNW tour dates.

Enjoy the show.

i hear maynard doesn't like his fans very much.

is this apocryphal, or is there truth to it?

i've never heard any music by tool, but i have seen a couple of their posters.

Maynard can definitely sound douchey sometimes.  Check out his Tweet from last year over a past sexual assault accusation:

I try to separate art from artist generally though.

Tool and Taylor Swift would make a great double bill.

A great live band. They're not easy and not for everyone, but they're great.

imo tool is one of the few live bands that is truly worth $150. im happy to see an artist or band that isnt constantly churning out albums or tours and instead focuses on the quality of the albums and tours they do...tool has a quality over quantity ethos and i am happy to subsidize that...or at least im far more willing to subsidize that than i am to subsidize the musical careers of an artists minimally talented children. the stage setup, lighting/visual rigs, and hours of psychedelic visuals they tour with are also extremely impressive.

Probably the coolest cd packaging I’ve seen.  The package has a video screen built in.

Tool are masters at creating layered and syncopated compositions.

This might be my favorite track on the new album, Pneuma.

Invincible is a close second:

Bumped as I'm pumped for the shoe. tonight ^____^

Happy birthday Jay, hope the show rocks

Jim Jordan.

Wait...what?

how was the show?

Show was good.  The paper I took really snuck up on me and I was in the stratosphere for most of the night.  Took a long time to come down 100% haha.   I had a great time.. not sure if I'd see again but glad I checked it out.

I got something for ya, just need an addy

^Sweet- thanks!
