Why would there be a tip jar at the Mobil gas/convenience store ????

Dude man in front of me bought a bag of ice a drink and a lottery scratch off. Came to $9.45. He threw his .55 cents in.

Why???

The attendant put it there so he could pull in an extra $20 a day?

A sociology dissertation could be written on tip jars.

How much is rent in Florida?

Somewhere between $400-12,500/month.

A convenience store is definitely a unique place for a tip jar.

I always throw money in a jar in places where they actually prepare something for me, like a deli. But if all they are doing is grabbing something off the shelf and/or ringing me out, no dice. Maybe the convenience store makes a mean Slurpee, in which case the tip jar would be appropriate.

No slurpees he just stands there and pulls smokes and lotto tickets down.

I wonder if Mobil would condone this?

Do you tip a bartender for pulling a can out of a fridge?

Yes, and way too much.

I tip anyone who looks like they showered before leaving the house that morning. Admittedly I have low expectations for the American working class.

Because some pepple love to tip. I dont have much to share but it really makes me feel good to throw a little bit for the workers. You can either tip them at work or on the freeway off ramp. Everybody can use a little help.

Tim - You think he's panhandling?

I think it's his hustle and no harm to me.

People are pretty conditioned to throw money in receptacles that say tip.

I would have a choice to tip him.

So it would be a victimless crime in my view.

No harm, no foul.

That being said, not a very good look for Mobile and they would probably frown on it.

Personally I wouldn't give him shit, but give him shit.
