Tibetan Freedom Concert - Golden Gate Park June 1996

Forums:

What a fun weekend that was. I recently found a box of pictures from this weekend. I will get a couple on here to share. As I dust off the memory bank on this one I recall a few highlights.

John Lee Hooker, Buddy Guy, Beastie Boys, The monks chanting in their tent. Chili peppers with Dave Navarro, The Fugees, Smashing Pumpkins (I think one of their band members passed away a week later). Foo Fighters were newer at the time.

One of the worst live bands I have ever witnessed was there, Yoko Ono. That was absolutely horrid.

Anybody else go to this one in the park?

A Tribe Called Quest, Rage Against The Machine. I know there were a lot of others. This will be a fun afternoon trying to remember this one.

I was their and had a great time. The mosh pit was the size of a city block.

It's been some of my most popular video's on my YouTube site over the yaers...

I remember when entertainers occasionally encouraged people to boycott Chinese products.

Maybe we should give that another shot

Entertainers used to dream of being millionaires.

I was there too! Amazing weekend!

I was there!  I was in town with friends for Phil and the symphony.  We hit the Free Tibet show in the daytime.  Awesome weekend!  That was the start of my full time road life.

After the show as we were pulling out of our parking space some spun out kid wanted to talk about our bus.  Turns out he had just ground scored a fanny pack full of weed.  After an intense trading session we had a lot of smoke.  The kid left with a new piece of glass, a skateboard, hoody, knit hat and whatever else we could get him to trade.  Awesome weekend
