And today, very courageous people in Hong Kong protest despite the threat of prison.

How sad that our democracy is taken for granted. Who will stand like these folks?

Thank you, Slickrock. I've been thinking about this all day, and read about some of the people in Hong Kong. They are strong.

That the PRC was not internationally shunned after Tiananmen Square is all the evidence I have needed to know that money is what rules the world. The wealth of the few at the expense of the many.

HONG KONG TRANSFER

The Union Jack comes down
the Chinese flag goes up
probably no opium in the hall.
Prince Charles makes jolly
with Jiang Zemin.
If the soldiers march
with such precision.

Cut to music
young woman dancing
softly fluttering as new butterflies
in Tiananmen Square
all lovely smiles
pretty feet lightly tripping
over the ghost of blood
and the slumbering spirit
of the Goddess of Democracy.

Nice, Roarshock. We need to resurrect the Goddess of Democracy in our own country. Maybe have a traveling roadshow going from state to state.

Democracy requires unflagging dedication to the cause and great personal sacrifice. As a society, we flit from thing to thing, and don't want to miss out on anything.

Oh, Look outside a window, there's a woman being grabbed,
They've dragged her to the bushes and now she's being stabbed.
Maybe we should call the cops and try to stop the pain,
But Monopoly is so much fun, I'd hate to blow the game
