Thunder, Lightning, Wind and Rain

Forums:

Well, maybe not lightning, but definitely the other 3.

It's raining.

In California.

In August.

It doesn't happen often but here it is! Perfect day for it; keep some of the beach traffic away.

Some good booming thunder as I type, and it's very humid.

Hell yes.

How is your weather today?

Raining here at the moment.

Of course China, its Rochester in the summer!

Hope you and the wife are well.

There was a lot of lightning at about 4:00am here in Marin.

I had a fantastic light show up on the river.

It's just too hot and cloudy and icky in Eugene. I'm going to visit a friend with AC this afternoon and drink wine.

watched unbelievable loops of lazy horizontal lightning over the ocean and Marin headlands early this am...

Rainy day on Long Island. Guilt free laziness. Golf on the tube and JGB on the stereo. Did do my chores this morning tho

Boom, BOOM, BOOM in San Jose last night, rattling the windows.

My little dog was out of his mind, so I was up with a light & sound show as the sun came up.

It was from the remains of hurricane Elida, had a line of T-storms going for hundreds of miles from the Bay area south to Mexico in the wee hours, now all heading north into Oregon

In the hills between LA and Bakersfield, we got about 6 drops of rain yesterday and I heard some thunder in the distance. Today, we have dark, heavy storm clouds just west of where I'm at, and the temp was up to 108 the last time I checked, which is notable because I live at an elevation of about 4500 feet. I just hope we don't get dry lightning or hail.

We saw some lightning on our drive to the beach.

Thunder woke me up at 6. In a closed up house with the ceiling fan going on high. So I got up and enjoyed the show and watched for fires. And entered some daily contests.

Never heard of a roll cloud before...

105 and smoky here in the East Bay.  Craziest weather in years. Heat wave, unpredicted thunder and lighting, and resulting fires.

California, prophet on a burning shore!

Sorry for double post. I'm new!

^ Wow.

Outside of the dog cowering in the shower, it was a fun, rare storm in the North Bay.  More tonight?

I do like the smells of the storms, mixed with the humidity, reminds me of long summer nights in PA.

It hit 98 degrees at Sea-Tac today, Seattle's hottest day all year.  Fortunately, I'm in Northern Virginia, where it was a cool 81 today.  Normally, that's the other way around.  Back home tomorrow night in time for the cool down.

We had some thunder in the Corvallis area mid afternoon, otherwise fertilized the pot plants and played with the peafowl at my friends place, freshly home from a heart attack and feeling good, a fine way to spend an afternoon

Treats!

Noodler, It sounds like a good afternoon but who is home from having a heart attack? I'm hoping it's not you but I'm not sure what I'm reading

My buddy Kirk had a heart attack several days ago, spent 2 days in the hospital.  I went out to say hi, make sure he was alright, etc...  sounded like it was pretty minor, and didn't need any stents (Cath Lab fixed him up).  He's been a mining buddy for around 25 years now.  Have gone digging for opal in Virgin Valley NV, Sunstones in Plush OR, Glass Buttes Obsidian, Hampton Butte Green petrified wood, gold mining, etc.  We have a work area at his place, now I'm growing a few plants there since it's legal.  He's 72, and still a keeping on....  I reread my post and saw it was a bit ambiguous, so sorry about that!  I'm now really thankful he didn't go mining with me earlier in the week, as I climbed some pretty rough / steep hills, and he had his attack that afternoon at home (I was in the sticks, of course).

>>>Never heard of a roll cloud before

We had one roll by while we were in high school physics class

Our tenured teacher Mr. Pearlmann was beside himself with excitement

His other claim to fame: He was an usher for a Jimi Hendrix concert at the Danbury High School in the late 60's "Go Hatters!"

Driving around yesterday afternoon - actually had to use the wipers. Weird thing was the rain didn't bring the temp down at all.

Funny, no noticable rain in Eugene yesterday. It felt like it was coming but...

I'm happy it wasn't you, Noodler, and that your friend is doing okay.

the pics are amazing
