As we arrive at this moment, bidding adieu to #45, and Welcome to #46!, I take the advice of our new President, who said that in order to heal we must remember. As I remember and reflect over the past 4 years, I can honestly say, thank you #45.
Thank you for not using your access to the nuclear codes to blow the world to smithereens.
Thank you for resisting your urge to engage directly with volatile leaders from other nations, provoking them to attack us.
Thank you for inciting your followers to violence in such a clear way that even Mitch McConnell (along with some other Republicans) now speaks out against you and those in your group.
Thank you for your part in firing up voters in Georgia who elected Rapheal Warnock and Jon Ossoff (and thank you voters in Georgia and everyone who worked hard to help them vote!).
Thank you for showing us the true meaning of the swamp in Washington.
Thank you for uniting many people in this country against fascism, and in support of democracy.
Thank you for making clear that the greatest threat to our nation is white nationalism.
Thank you for halting the donations of 20 major corporations to the Republican senators and representatives who voted against certifying the election. (And for letting us know of these corporations so we can now more closely watch their donations and boycott them as needed.)
Thank you for providing endless lessons for parents to give their children about how NOT to behave, especially when they lose.
Thank you for filing over 60 lawsuits and losing nearly every one of them, clearing away doubts that our elections really are secure.
Thank you for demonstrating narcissism so purely — self-interest, self-aggrandizement, self-importance — that we appreciate compassion, decency and humility in the way that someone wandering the desert appreciates water.
Thank you for mobilizing many conspiracy-based, anti-government activists, who are now on their way to prison.
Thank you for strengthening the resolve of many Americans that we are a nation of immigrants and that we value the richness of ethnic diversity.
Thank you for teaching us the importance of questioning those in authority and of fact-checking their statements.
Thank you for clarifying that walls don’t effectively keep people out.
Thank you for helping media corporations (Twitter, FaceBook, etc) determine and enforce limits of what they will allow to be published on their platforms.

Thank you for stripping away environmental regulations so we may become stronger in creating legislation and making choices about our impact on the planet.
I can’t thank you for reducing boundaries of or selling off sacred lands, but I can acknowledge that your actions have contributed to engaging more people in understanding the value of protecting these lands.
Thank you for appointing judges who you thought would blindly do your bidding, so they have to confront the consequences of their decisions, facing themselves in the mirror each day.
Thank you for clarifying the difference between reality TV and real pain and suffering.

Thank you for showing us when law and order is needed to protect people (and when it is NOT).

^That's not really true. The USA is a democratic republic. Not a true republic or a true democracy. The most democratic votes for officials we have are for governors, senators mayors, etc. The presidency is determined by the vote a democratic republic called the electoral college.
Ever since the industrialization age our political and media system has been bought by the highest bidder. Our own federal reserve is split up for commercialized banks from region to region to own stock just like our media system. Our media companies are pretty much all split up through private investing firms on wall stock through public options.
These wealthy whites could no longer profit off of the slavery trade so they created a prison system which they can also owns stick and appoint members of boards to run their interests. They can still legally get predominantly blacks and Hispanics to work for pennies on the dollar.
These people love money, oil, war, but most of all they love power and control. They love bombing countries in the Middle East and using the CIA to train "rebels" of whom we want to "liberate". This usually creates huge terrorist cells like ISIS and the Taliban then it's our "responsibility" to free these countries of these organizations which we spawned "on accident".
Best just to try to get through your daily routine than to get all caught up in that stuff. It's not within our control and it's not going to change anytime soon. Be good to the people around you and that's all. Hope this helps.
