Terence McKenna

Forums:

I was chatting with a friend this morning about Terence McKenna, and got the chance to revisit his letters with Robert Hunter and one of my favorite short clips of him.

What's the zone got?

I have his book True Hallucinations about his psychedelic escapades in Colombia in the early 70's.

Over twenty years ago my friend did sound at this place called Omega Institute in Upstate NY.  I would go up there from time to time to work with him, basically like a roadie.  Saw some amazing presenters.  One time I went up for the weekend when Terrence was speaking.  Ended up playing music a lot with his girlfriend and hanging out all together in the evening.  Smoked a bunch of weed with him.  Real nice guy, pretty down to earth.  I recall he was complying about headaches, and later I wondered if that may have been the tumor that eventually killed him.

I've got that one too,  but the one it's based upon "The Invisible Landscape"  is one of those Rare Out Of Print books,  so if you see a copy in a dusty bookstore,  they are worth a few bucks.

The one I'm referring to is the first edition,  and above is a link to a copy in Portland -- the guy wants 2 grand for it.
Gosh,  I wish that I had purchased the copy I read in some dusty bookstore in Montreal,  but alas I was a starving Student,  and 10-12 bucks Canadian $ was a lot of dough.

He lived in Occidentel for a bit. My son went to School with His Son Finn. I think Finn still lives in West County Sonoma. Robert had a Home in Villa Grande.

my amsterdam shroom shop have a strain named after him... https://www.zamnesia.com/3721-fresh-mushrooms-mckennaii.html

The Psychedelic Trance producers went way overboard in sampling his talks into tracks. There were some parties where you weren't sure if it was a dance party or McKenna seminar.

Bought that in college, read it again last year.

Then went down a never ending McKenna YouTube rabbit hole.

"science is real, trust the experts, its very bad to be anti-science"

"wait have you guys heard of terence mckenna?"

You should read the Tao of Physics. Particles move from matter to energy and back again.

Spend five minutes watching this on the double slit experiment https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q1YqgPAtzho. The short version is that electrons act like waves until we set up a way to observe what they are doing and then they go back to acting like particles. What the fuck is up with that?

Science is just a way of figuring things out, and when it is done right you can trust the results. That doesn't mean we have even come close to figuring everything out.

Particle / Wave activity is just an artifact of 'our' observational and measuring / documentation process and its limitations.

Depending on the mode of observation,  particles sometimes behave like waves and vice-versa.

The actual methodology of attempting to document {these things} alters the way they behave,  within our limited understanding.

I just said the same stuff Kexela said,  but in a slightly different way.  Basically we are all 3-D creatures trying to postulate 4-D and 5-D experiences.  If we could handle all that stuff,  It would be more difficult to actually get on a Bus or deal with traffic lights.

Probably a good percentage of 'Schizophrenics'  have some bleed-through with 4-D and 5-D stuff impinging upon Normal reality. Like they ate too much L,  but they didn't eat the stuff.
