TBF17 Main Stage Schedule

YAY
I'm streaming it!

Thanks for the Heads up!

Thanks!  Catching the tail end.

Radio stations are a wild card, corporate filter-wise.

My friend, Liz Ryder, is playing at the 3PM Troubadours in the Round Elks Park session tomorrow. If you see her, tell her Mylar says high!
Very talented singer/songwriter and string virtuoso. She plays everything from a harp to a bouzouki.

Peter Rowan with Jack Casady right now.... Dharma Blues.

Tuning In.

Thanks so much for this reminder.

Just announced - NO Norah Jones stream tonight (record company issues) but everyone else is on board for the rest of the weekend.

Glad to hear Fruition was good. They're one of the headliners at the Utah Arts Festival next weekend.

Painted, when are you gonna get yer butt busy and apply and get on over here??? www.uaf.org

I applied last year for that UAF fest - but got shnayed.

The band I play with right now (Fog Swamp) is not quite accomplished or established enough yet but we are working on it.

Opened a gig last night at the Boom Boom Room (across the street from the SF Fillmore) for a fantastically whacky band called Five Alarm Funk!
See them if you can - they are amazing - and will be playing Element Fest in August as they are from BC.

Tomorrow we co-bill with The Incubators (whom I think are playing TXR tonight) at Hop Monk in Novato.....

Enjoy T-Ride and the Weekend and Happy Pops Day to all the VLZ - Dads!

Very Nice ! PR JC..

Rad stuff

Sweet, sweet trippin Buddhagrass

Michael Witcher is great and adding Sammy to the Peter Rowan / Jack Casady Party is pure gravy.

Hmmmm. What was the name of your group? I'm on the committee that listens to folk and bluegrass and celtic and C/W entries.

AWESOME !  Now !!

Just SICK !

Jerry D be gettin' jazzy?

I fell asleep during the House Band.

Listened to some yesterday and enjoyed the guys from Arkansas, especially their post-set interview. I thought Rowan boring until guests arrived.

Today I'll catch YMSB and Sammy, though I (and anyone that listens to him regularly) could probably write out his setlist right now.

Personally, I think this year's lineup is so-so. This has been the trend the last few years.

After the last few trips to Strings and Sol Telluride has lost its luster for me. I'm surprised it took as long as it did. I still love the place and will return often, but not for TBF.

Here's a video for you all from a local that feels the same way...

I thought Rowan was excellent, one of the more interesting lineups he's put together ... but will grant that things got more interesting with Sam.

Had a really bad run in with someone during this set.  I was by myself and tarp hopping up front and wound up in between the soundboard and the stage on a virtually empty tarp and was one of maybe a dozen people dancing up front ... whereas most are sitting down.  First, a 60 year old woman from a group about 15-20 feet behind me (directly in front of the sound board) and asks me and everyone else to sit down or clear out.  I just smiled kept dancing.  She made another pass through the group, but nodoby relented until her husband got up and was more aggressive about it and managed to clear everyone out but me ... I just kept smiling and dancing.    He started to ratchet up his act, but I just danced harder and it became kind of a scene for people in the area ... not what I was looking for especially since Rowns is always my favorite of the whole lot.  Eventually, he retreats back to his tarp, grabs his nuts and gives me the finger while uttering some profanity.  15 minutes later he comes back and tries again:  points to a tarp in the front row and says how there's a group of beautiful women and wouldn't it be great if I went over there and joined them ... and kind of grabs me by the shoulder and gives me a little nudge.  Asked him to please not touch me.   Then he starts to give me the business how he's asked nicely blah blah blah ... at that point I didn't want to argue with him and just said that I didn't like people trying to tell me what to do and that I suspect that he probably wouldn't either (which is an understatement given how this guy looked and was behaving).

Jerry Douglas band was excellent after Rowan, but still found myself very much unglued and took a hike up Bear Creek during Punch Brothers ... which was nice re: cool shade and getting away from the crowd to try and unwind, but even this morning ... still found my mind running through the chain of events.  Nora Jones helped sooth things for sure & I thought Greensky was good, but have seen better from them in terms of "getting out there".

FaceOnMars.. Looks like you had a run-in with one of the infamous Bluegrass-holes of the Colorado scene.  Worked for TBF for about 4 years as a photographer and can't even count the unpleasant encounters I had with supposed bluegrass fans.  For music that espouses such good vibes, the fan-base can be extremely homogenous and generally pretty grumpy.  Even as of 5 years ago, pot smoke was extremely frowned upon on the concert field.  Of course, you'll have less issues late night with the younger bands, I'm sure.  I'm 6'4 and regularly I have dudes get confrontational with me at shows (for whatever reason: dancing, standing, et cetera).  I'm really peaceful until they lay a hand on me.  That's when I inform them that if they touch me again I will knock them the fuck out.. Seems to work! lol

Enjoying the sweet sounds of Sarah Jarosz on the stream right now.. Beautiful music! Don't let the f*ckers get you down and enjoy the rest of the festival!

I thought Rowan was excellent <<<

Me as Well ! I want a Tape of That !

He's playing Grand Targhee BG Fest in August with Jack and I hope to videotape it.

What is going on here now? Supposed to be Fleck and Thile.

On now. They must be running...oh wait, mtn time is only 1 hour dif.  OK.  Nevermind.

Dylan:  I'm not sure how to pigeon hole this guy and his group, but I do know exactly what you're talking about and it has irked me for quite some time ... which is why I had zero qualms standing my ground, especially once he put a hand on my shoulder to try and usher me away.   I spoke with someone who was working at the Box Office and even expressed the sentiment that by enabling the snake that eats its own tail (pointing to the tarp line for the following day) that there's clearly an issue re: the sense of entitlement many feel is deserved after spending time in line.  She kind of agreed on that count, but I found it interesting when she kind of wanted to hear my story first before providing an answer to my initital question whether or not standing was prohibited.   She initially kinda said, "well it depends", but ultimately conceded there's no rule.  Definitely not a fan of the climate they promote re: the so-called "tradition" of the tarp runs, and how it leads to territorialism and competitiveness.   As much as I like to bitch and complain about this or that while sitting here in front of a monitor, I'm actually not one to seek out confrontation in real life ... in fact, will go to great lengths to find a middle ground.  So, it sucked to find myself having to dig in and deal with this sort of shit ... took a little while to finally let it go.
