Telluride 1987

Forums:

I am happy to say that my privileged white self was there that weekend...slept on a friend's floor in Ophir. My sister drove the band to and from their condos (two trips as there were two cliques in the band) and had the all access passes, one of which she shared with yours truly. Fantastic chocolate chip cookies back stage, perhaps the best I've ever tasted.

What a great weekend.

I live on Long Island, it would take a lot to get noticed in the "privileged" category. No matter what color you think you are.

How was the concert?

What a great memory. One for the ages, I'm sure.

Baba ganoush is a traditional middle eastern dish.

"How was the concert?"

Both shows were meh at best, capped by the start and stop train wreck of a Brokedown to close it all out.

If only the quality of the shows matched everything else about that event.  But after the great run at Red Rocks it hardly mattered.

Sounds like a great memory - fun times.

I just did Red Rocks. A couple friends did the whole tour. (Well one of them skipped the long hot drive to Tempe,

which turned out to be a good move as it was just a so-so show).

Everyone I know that went to Telluride said the same thing: unbelievable town, venue and

scene, lackluster shows.

My (future) wife really liked the show and vibe at Park West, then the two day blowout to end the

tour in Calaveras with Santana also sounded pretty great.

Fun times in all of summer '87!

The Harmonic Convergence. It really was magical.

Yeah, Jerry started over, "This is all fucked up."

Tempe was a dust bowl.

we were there --Sunday show only

Rented a motor home.

Went on to Silverton for a couple days after- then back to Park West for that show.

Yeah man.

I did not go to Telluride that summer. Wish I did. Everyone that went told me it was a blast and Bill Graham had a wonderful time. He was more relaxed there than anyone had seen him in a long time. Must have been the dissolved oxygen in the atmosphere.

for a fun weekend of shows. Check out Santa Fe 1983 following the 3 day Red Rock run.

The music may have been unremarkable, but it was the catalyst for one of the best weekends in my GD history. Our party consisted of friends from both coasts. We drove from Boulder in a 66 micro bus. Drummed with Olatunji. One friend blazed with Jerry in the condo pool. Cops gave away their hats as souvenirs. Walked to the shows. We were young and the party was on. So much fun. I'm still married to the girl I went with. Oh, and the people in horse suits...... ;)

SW....attended this show and married the girl I went with too...

Remember they told no one to go due to you would not find tickets and then there were tickets everywhere. Remember the only obstacle to get in the show was a orange 3 foot rubber fence. That you could just walk over if you did not have a ticket. After the RR shows this was very uneventful music wise. Last time they played RR and telluride.

Next to my PC is a Mirror I bought from telluride someone did art work on...

"We were young and the party was on."

No doubt about that.  Three of us rented a condo in town and got very little sleep.  Lots of guitar pickin'.

The guy on the giant unicycle known as "Running Wheel" (aka Acrobat Pat) who appears in the first 10 minutes of one of those clips is still around ... he makes a lot of custom jewelry, but also some very cool metal pieces with faces of musicians and personalities ... including Jerry.  They're about 6" x 6" and when you hold it up to the light, they cast a really wicked / realistic "impression shadow" of the face.
