Poor guy can't catch a break, first the S&R debacle, now this.

Trey made some announcement that it was the first time the entire band had been on stage.   Not sure if that was a since a certain date, or not.   I watched the first set and it was real up and down for me.  When it took off, it really took off, but when it was cheesy mellow, I just wanted to walk away as fast as i could.

LOL LOL LOL Love it

I don't know, maybe it was the acid.

All I know is you're a funny guy.

We went this past weekend, Thurs-Sun. First shows back since Feb 2020. It felt good. A friend from Denver flew in to join in the festivities. Here is how our weekend went down.

Thurs - We got into the park about 4 pm and there were just cover songs being played. It was nice. I have no idea who was on stage, it seemed to be a free for all. It was nice. String Cheese had 2 sets and killed it I thought. Set 1 was pretty groovy and rocking, the set 2 had a few older tunes. I like when they play the older stuff.

Fri - We got to the park in time to see Karina Rykman, she can play the bass. Cool new young band. Dirty Heads, Lawrence, Gary Clarke Jr (I was underwhelmed with this set). Too Many Zooz and then back to the main stage for 2 more fun SCI sets.

Sat - We did some festival hopping and caught Sweetwater fest until 5 and then went over to the Shaky Knees fest for the evening. (2 miles apart). Sweetwater: Mofro, Spafford, Kitchen Dwellers, and the first hour and change of Umphreys. Mofro was great I thought. He always brings it no matter who is in his band. Spafford is good, but just a festival band to me. I really liked the Kitchen Dwellers, that was a fun set. Umphreys is good, just not my jam. Good at a festival.

At Shaky Knees we got in and saw Mt. Joy. I had never heard of them but they were pretty good. I will add them to my playlist. Next up was Kurt Vile and the Violators. He has always reminded me of Lou Reed. Good set, he has a lot of fans. We made our way over under the trees to the Criminal Records stage for Amyl and The Sniffers. They brought their A++ game. The energy was a 17 on a 10 scale. Great punk rock band from Austraila. The singer dove into the crowd, surfed and then she got back on stage with a bloody mouth and chin finished the set and acted like nothing happed. Pure Punk! We saw King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard next. DAMN!! This band is on fire. They are coming back this fall, I will go check them out again. I don't know how to descibe them. Nine Inch Nails finished the night on the big stage. Trent Reznor reworked some of the older tunes and made them into listenable songs instead of chainsaws on sheets of metal. Very loud, cool lights, and tons of energy.

Sun - Got into the park around 3 and caught Thievery Corporation, they are nice and mellow after the previous night. JRAD was next and just killed it. I love this band and will continue to see them any chance I get. Caught a 2 Snarky Puppy songs and then back over for Oysterhead. That was really a lot of fun for many reasons. Cool to hear those worlds collide for some really groovy sunday evening tunes.

I had to take today off. I need a rehab day before coming back to reality.  Fest on everyone!

Thursday was Tauk/McGee combo band with the covers and then Um McGee all star cover

both were enjoyable

specially when they throw a led Zep or Pink Floyd tune in there

10 hour drive home on no sleep and still a lil sketched out, I need to admit to my self I'm getting older and 4 day shows and a dozen doses is even starting to take its toll on me

i give myself another 10 years or so before I will grow up
