Summer 1984

Nice. The Tigers were winning too.

I was at the Cal Expo 84 shows.  Was kind of fun to watch all the hippies on the waterslide behind the stage while the band played.  The night between shows, we stayed in Williams, and a huge wind storm knocked out power to most of the region (they were very windy shows).  Since the clock had stopped in the bar, they didn't shut down, so we drank $1 imports (with their encouragement) into the wee hours!  Highlights for me included the Playin jam > China Doll > more jamming > into a rare Phil / Brent jam into drums.

That Cedar Rapids show is one of my favorites. My 2nd show and 1st on the sacrament. It was all GA and we managed to secure seats in the 4th row.

I've listened to this show mny times but watching that video of the second set reminds me of a couple weird details I haven't  thought of since that day 35 years ago.

The cord on Jerry's guitar to his amp was too short and was pert near pulled taut and hovering a few feet above the stage when he stepped to the mic.You can see it when the lighting is right. I was praying Jerry's guitar wouldn't get disconnected. lol.

Also, the Leslie speaker that was at the front of the stage right near Phil's stage monitor. I can't recall seeing that since then.

Did you folks hear the Dedication at the start of the 2nd set, and again at the beginning of He's gone?

Was on 1984 Summer Tour from Kingswood through Cedar Rapids (skipped Harrisburg).  The dedication I believe,  was for a Touring fellow who died when the hippy bus drove off the road.  Actually I had been on same Bus for several stops on tour,  but switched to different one just prior to the crash.

Also rode on the "Terrapin Trailways" out of Taos NM for a few stops.  That was those guys first venture 'Back East'.

Couldn't go to Alpine because broke,  and got a ride from Iowa back to NYC.
Cedar Rapids was very nice venue and connected to the Hotel (maybe Hilton)?  You could go back and forth from Hotel room to venue,  have a Beer at set-break and such.

I saw about 80% of 1984. My biggest year of touring.

I have an incredible Cedar Rapids memory both good and bad

Not sure how they raised much money with the best seats going for $13.

I was on the lawn for $9. I loved the show, good example of what they were up to in '84.

Thank you guys for posting pictures they are awesome.

I loved the '84 Greek run. I thought the shows got progressively better each night/day.

I was coming to the end of my era of lugging my camera around to shows, this is really the only shot I took that weekend that I liked and saved; Bob howling at the moon on Friday the 13th with a full moon in the sky, a Dark Star encore and a shooting star during that to add to the moment...

Bobbys lookin right at you, Lance. Great pic

That's my favorite non-Ibanez Bob guitar.  His tone went downhill after '84.

Anyone see any of the Waters/Clapton July 84 tour?

Grate year of shows for me.

That Seva show in Toronto had circle of gold tix that were a whopping $65 with money going to Seva.

Those tix included an after show party..

The Concert was called The Third Eyeball..

I forgot about those Circle of Gold tix RRG. I think Brent and maybe Bobby were the only band members

to show up at the party.

I finally found this poster years after attending the show, then it went through a flood at my house.

Took it out of the frame, the bottom is fucked up but oh well. Lost a bunch of stuff in that one including a nice copy

of the Art Of Rock book. Oh well, that's life!

My Dad took these pics. Bought a ticket for the opening ceremonies in the lot for face. Best seat in the house.
