Grateful Dead - New Year's Eve Countdown / Sugar Magnolia - 12/31/77 - Winterland (OFFICIAL)

Bingo

A lively bunch ... watching Phil and Jerry dancing through the tune ... swell.

Played this last night for the first time & enjoyed it so much.

Bill Graham grinning as he lands on the stage with the motorcycle.

The large bag of balloons falling on Bobby's head.

Phil with his hat on having the time of his life.

Jerry Garcia, oh Jerry. I have never seen him rock it in full laughter like that before.

Best version of Sugar Magnolia?

What's your favorite version?

a fine capper to one of the greatest years ever of GD live performances

cool to see Jerry bopping and having so much fun... could have done without Donna's trainwreck vocals, esp. near the end of the vid

12 minutes well spent... thx for posting

The song says that you never go back to the hotel California

But I would love to go back to winter land just one more nye

Love that room and what happened in there

12/31 68-77 is indelibly in my DNA

Sugar Magnolia - Mathew Sweet / Susana Hoffs

Didn't know the Sweet/Hoffs thing existed.  Nice nod to the original in the production, especially the vocals.

And Bobby with a broken string(s)... damn, most white guys dance better than Donna.

Yeah, but can they screech a better Playin' reprise?

Didn’t the ‘jump like a willy’s...’ line cause the final fracture in the hunter/weir songwriting relationship?

I thought it was the guitar/quasar thing.smiley

Breathing more freely. ..
