In the studio this week with Levon's Road Mgr & Connor Kennedy

Forums:

Tapped my buddy Butch, who was Levon's 'body man' in the post Last Waltz era to assemble a studio band to record some of my original music.

He got me the best touring musicians in th Hudson Valley - including Connor Kennedy.

Loved the Phil show last summer with Levon's band at Bethel and talked to Connor about that night. He explained that the sound mix on stage was terrible and that the band worked hard just to get through the gig.

Fascinating, because it sounded great from the seats.

Connor has been a member of Levon & Amy Helm's band,, Steely Dan's touring band, and is a rising star.

Lucky Me!

Exciting that your music is being recorded!

Thanks Judit!

Thanks Howard. Where is that?

I'm adding a few previously unpublished photos of Connor from this year's Dirt Farmer Festival at Arrowood Farms in Accord, NY.

Ouch.... this one was not on my radar.

Was he in Midnight North or another band with Elliott Peck and Grahame Lesh?

Nice!

Lay it down dirty and play it back clean.

Judit ... in the past year, he has toured with Amos Lee, Rachal Yamagata, Donald Fagan, Amy Helm and the Midnight Ramble Band. He was a big part of the show with Phil at Bethel Woods.

He's been busy! For whatever reason I thought he might have played with Midnight North a few years ago and was perhaps in a relationship with Elliott Peck. I don't have a stellar memory for those sorts of things.

Burn it down, donster

Thanks Skyjunk!

Judit.... found it. Connor & Amy played with Midnight North when they played at Levon's barn

Here is a tune that we are re-doing during this session..... Marley, recorded at Levon's Barn in 2005:
