Anything to try to distract from the Russia thing, looks like.

I wonder if war with Iran is next.

That stupid fucking wall shit has already been a major distraction for both parties.   Let him put the damn thing up and we can move on to some more serious issues.   At least he had the good sense not force another government shut down over this crap.

>>>>I wonder if war with Iran is next.

I wouldn't be surprised.  The US just kicked off a big pow wow in Poland with other countries to discuss the Iran situation.   I suspect we will see more covert and overt action on Iran in the next couple months.

covert war is already underway

Iran contra redux, only this time it’s Venezuela and Iran

>>>>covert war is already underway

That's been going on since the Obama administration, but its picking up steam lately.  Just yesterday, a busload of Iranian Republican Guard got blown up.   And Israel continues to bomb Iranian troops in Syria on an almost daily basis.

I just have to think that there is SOME limit on executive power in this regard.  Whether it is the "abuse of discretion" standard, or an implied fiduciary duty, something.  What's to stop a President from calling the leak in the roof of his personal home an emergency?  What if I'm president and I think that getting the TB Rays a new stadium is an emergency?

The apparatus abides

>>>>just have to think that there is SOME limit on executive power in this regard.

Here is a recent in depth Atlantic article on the presidential emergency powers:

https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2019/01/presidential-emerge...

Congress can vote to repeal a presidential emergency declaration, but then the president can veto the repeal.  Then Congress would have to have a 2/3 majority to override the veto.

What if I'm president and I think that getting the TB Rays a new stadium is an emergency?

It is before they move to Montreal, Charlotte or Portland

Yes there will be a vote, and everyone will be watching the  22 Republican Senators who are running in 2020. Do they vote for a make believe national emergency, and basically vote away the Senates power to check future democratic presidents. Or do they vote against the make believe national emergency and get voted out for failing the cult purity test. Lay down with Trump and wake up with a disease. Couldn’t happen to a nicer group of people.

Does this mean The Golden Bloated Liar In Chief is going to throw rolls of paper towels at refugees crossing from the south?

>>>>covert war is already underway

Wild speculation, but couldn't help but wonder about the alleged USAF defector and whether she was being setup?  Nothing like a turncoat to rile up nationalistic sentiment.

>>>Wild speculation

Not speculation at all.  Its widely know that the US and Israel have been engaged in an active campaign of sabotage against Iran's nuclear program:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Olympic_Games

The program was started by Bush II, but Obama expanded the program significantly, partially as a way to keep Israel from bombing the Iranian facilities.  I am sure Trump, Bolton, and Pompeo have been in cahoots with Netanyahu to ramp up the campaign even more.  Now whether the defector is a double or triple agent, who knows.

to Ken's point above (ps, the Times should not have published this, in my opinion):

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/02/13/us/politics/iran-missile-launch-failures.html

WARSAW — The Trump White House has accelerated a secret American program to sabotage Iran’s missiles and rockets, according to current and former administration officials, who described it as part of an expanding campaign by the United States to undercut Tehran’s military and isolate its economy.

Officials said it was impossible to measure precisely the success of the classified program, which has never been publicly acknowledged. But in the past month alone, two Iranian attempts to launch satellites have failed within minutes.

Those two rocket failures — one that Iran announced on Jan. 15 and the other, an unacknowledged attempt, on Feb. 5 — were part of a pattern over the past 11 years. In that time, 67 percent of Iranian orbital launches have failed, an astonishingly high number compared to a 5 percent failure rate worldwide for similar space launches.

Sorry, it didn't come out the right way ... I was admitting that it's likely just wild speculation on my part that the USAF defector wasn't actually a defector, but had been setup.

All this wall bullshit is just a distraction from the Mueller investigation closing in, the McCabe interview out today. Trump says look at the shiny object over here and the press obliges.

If I could post a photo, I would put up a pic of trump with his hair blowing in the wind and the nazi from the strain when he was putting on his human face and hair.

Let him put the damn thing up and we can move on to some more serious issues.

Um, no.

Will the likes of Murkowski & Collins go along with the blood on their hands of hundreds of thousand, if not millions of deaths?  In all likelihood, simply to cover their own asses (although wouldn't be surprised if they're receiving threats of violence re: their families) & that of a glorified conman?

State Of Emergency is Steel Pulse's weakest album.

IMO this might be one of the most significant fuck ups of his presidency.

president harry s truman declared the first international "police action" against korea in the 50's, which began our involvement in the korean war. to declare war, a president needs approval from congress. but since this was a "police action", he didnt need approval from congress.

this set a serious precedent. the USA has not officially declared war since our first "police action" in korea. all of our wars since then have been "police actions" that do not require approval from congress.

is trump about to set that same precedent for the budget?

From what I perceive the wall building process will be held up in the courts forever from the confiscation of land from the border land owners.

Legislation will not matter.

>>>>all of our wars since then have been "police actions" that do not require approval from congress.

After the Vietnam War, Congress passed the War Powers Act which requires the President to notify Congress within 48 hours of committing US forces to combat situations.   That triggers a 60 day period for Congress to authorize continued use of military force:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_Powers_Resolution

As noted in the article, the requirement was essentially ignored by Clinton in Kosovo in 1999, Obama in Libya in 2011, and by both Obama and Trump in Syria more recently without much consequence.   Congress did authorize the use of force after the 9/11 attacks, which Bush II and subsequent presidents have used liberally to engage in the loosey-goosey "War on Terror" in various parts of the world.

You go Drump, That'll show them your skills. What a deal master!

I was trapped in Dr waiting room while trump droned on about the wall, drug smuggling, woman smuggling, n korea, china. My blood pressure was peaking, he is nutz. Sniffling like he's on coke bender and couldn't answer a question if have two vowels and hint. Winning we are!

Everyone knows that a wall won't save us.
