Over the years, I came to favor Jackstraw as a first-set closer or second-set opener. Not that it wasn't a swell opener.
Overall, I love both of these shows immensely. They had to work at it these nights. That always draws out extra emotion. It shows. If you've never heard the full shows, you might check them out. Garcia made the string howl on 12/28/80 right out of the gate.
