Something funny going on in DC on Wed?

Could be a coincidence...probably...hopefully....

Or maybe.... the administration is going to tell the Senate..."Remember that big ass bomb we tested in Afghanistan a few weeks ago?...Well, we are about to bomb the shit out of North Korea in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1....., but don't worry, we are prepared for retaliation....now sit still, shut up, and by the way, your cell phones don't work here."

The White House announced Monday that it would host an unusual private briefing on North Korea for the entire Senate......

Press secretary Sean Spicer told reporters that the lawmakers would be briefed Wednesday by several senior administration officials, including Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and Defense Secretary Jim Mattis. He emphasized that the meeting plan had been convened by Senate leadership and that the White House was serving “as the location.”

Yet the White House setting perplexed lawmakers who have grown accustomed to such briefings taking place in a secure location on Capitol Hill, where there is more room to handle such a large group....“These briefings are always, always, always done in the SCIF up here,” one Senate aide, who was not authorized to talk on the record and so spoke on the condition of anonymity, said Monday.

Law enforcement officials and other first responders will participate in a full-scale exercise on April 26 designed to prepare for the possibility of a complex coordinated terror attack in the National Capital Region.

Emergency managers who work together at the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (COG) planned the exercise to help protect residents by preparing for an attack involving multiple target locations and teams of perpetrators.

The regional exercise will be staged at six sites in the District of Columbia, suburban Maryland and Northern Virginia, and will involve hundreds of police, fire, and emergency medical service personnel and volunteer actors.

Saber rattling and threats by and against North Korea have been so common place, its hard to gauge whether anything will actually happen.   However, the briefing to the Senate is unusual and I wouldn't put anything past Trump.    I hope this is all just chest thumping and will pass without incident, but if it does come to war, sure hope that Trump and his generals have the good sense to not repeat the Iraq War fuck up and have a junta of disloyal North Korean generals waiting in the wings to take over as soon as the first bombs drop.

Any war there will be a catastrophe for the region and a danger for everyone else.

Ken, gotta think all it takes is a needle to drop, some stupid reason for either to pull the trigger and it will get ugly fast.

>>>Any war there will be a catastrophe for the region

No doubt.   Even if nuclear weapons were not used, all that artillery North Korea has on the DMZ can cause serious damage to Seoul before it is wiped out by air strikes.   That's why I am skeptical Trump is going to pull the trigger.   However, there are around a quarter of million Americans in South Korea, and if they and other foreigners start evacuating Seoul en masse, that would be a good sign that shit is really about to hit the fan.

>>>some stupid reason for either to pull the trigger and it will get ugly fast.

That's how its been for decades.   But now that you mention it what could possibly go wrong with Trump and this guy in the captain chairs:

Prez did say submarines - plural.  Obviously when milliseconds matter, being close to the target is good if you are a missile (or plane).
"We are sending an armada. Very powerful,” Trump told Bartiromo. “We have submarines. Very powerful. Far more powerful than the aircraft carrier. That I can tell you.”

"The US Navy submarine is expected to dock in the port city of Busan, South Korea, on the same day that North Korea celebrates the 85th anniversary of the founding of the Korean People’s Army...

Armed with tactical missiles and equipped with superior communications capabilities, the Michigan is one of four US Navy subs that began service as a ballistic missile submarine, loaded with nuclear missiles as part of the US strategic nuclear deterrent.

In the 2000s the Navy converted four of the Ohio-class subs into land-attack platforms armed with conventional weapons.

Each of the four submarines can carry up to 154 Tomahawk cruise missiles. They are also outfitted to stealthily deploy up to 66 special operations forces and their equipment."

Graham and McCain are the two most vocal hawks in the U.S. Senate.
Tonight (Monday) Prez "... will then have dinner with Senator and Mrs. McCain and Senator Lindsey Graham."

“You better believe I’m willing to obliterate North Korea’s missile program before I would allow one to hit America,” Graham told reporters Monday. “Any American president who would subject this country to a missile attack from North Korea is making a huge mistake, because it’s an unstable regime.”

He went on to say he is confident the president won’t be soft of the country, which recently threatened to sink US aircraft carrier....“It’s bad for South Korea, it’s bad for Japan, it’s bad for China — you know they need to help us,” he said. “The one thing I can tell you right now, if there’s a war between us and North Korea now it’ll be over there not here.”

battle of the bad haircuts

It'd be humorous if they were facing off in a cage match.

With nukes - not so much.
