So, a fellow "spectator" started playing the trumpet during fireworks

Forums:

Seemed kind of like another version of "harmonica guy" or "conch shell guy" who plays along with the band at a show.

Our fireworks in the mountains always includes giant booming explosions that are choreographed to the display ... and it's very cool to listen to the way it reverberates / echoes throughout the valley, but the trumpet playing national anthem and other "patriotic" tunes totally fucked with the effect

In before chacho.

But have you met air "harmonica" guy?

face has a bigger problem with people than i do.

take better drugs op

Are ooooh's and ahhhh's still acceptable?

My kids blow air horns at the end. It's a tradition.

Sounds like a fife would've been more tasteful, at least he could've done a proper Yankee Doodle

I'd take random trumpet over Neil Diamond's "America" - Today!  Or any other day for that matter...

At least it wasn't the spoon man

>>>conch shell guy

AKA Albus Dumbledore

Not usually a fan of spectator contributions at a musical event, but it seems to me that a fireworks display is one place where it should be allowed - nay, encouraged!

I agree with Johnny D

We've had a ruling from the judges, yes "ooooh's and ahhhh's" are still acceptable ...

If I read this thread & have never seen experienced fireworks in the mountains designed to incorporate sound, I might think it "seems that way" too ... but until you hear the way the sound booms, reverberates, and echoes you might not realize the extent to which sound is an integral part of the show.  There's clearly a precise choreography in terms of the timing of the booms in relation to the visual display ... and it's not necessarily the initial boom that's interrupted, but the slow "spatial echo" that's disrrupted

But, unless you're 30' FOB DFC, that "spatial echo" is going to vary. It's all "too much!"

You ever see a fireworks show truly choreographed to music? They do that here. Everyone turns on the same radio station and it works pretty amazingly well, even with spatial variances in boom echoes.

30' FOB DFC = ?

I wouldn't have so much an issue with "official" music; however, trumpet guy clearly wedged his way into the picture in a very slick way ... who's really going to tell him to stop playing the National Anthem on the 4th of July?
