Shitty Movies That Are Supposed to be Good

Forums:

Gone Girl

My lord, what a piece of crap, from the plot to the writing to the acting.

What are some other ones that fall into this category?

manchester by the sea

Thanks for confirming that, Turts. I got that impression.

Eyes Wide Shut

The Walter Hill flicks Cooder scored.  I'm hoping Geronimo is better than Streets of Fire and Blue City.

shawshank  redemption

willy wonka

forrest gump

charles bronson

john wayne

roy scheider robert shaw - jaws

add

Scarface; and

Scent Of A Woman

Al lost a bit of his cache with me after those two.

The Godfather movies

So...turns out Geronimo: An American Legend is ehhhhhhhhhxcellllent!

Robert Duvall never disappoints.

Don't know if they were monks, by Ry used some throat-singers early in the score.

Dunkirk

Horrible for all the hype!

Sharknado

The Dolby sound and sync was way off when we saw Dunkirk. We were looking forward and were very disappointed with the film.

$50 for two tickets , two small sodas and a small corn.

Scarface was supposed to be a good movie???

I thought it was supposed to one of those "So bad it's good" movies.

Like Roadhouse with Patrick Swayze.

Possibly my favorite Bad Movie.

And always remember, there's a big difference between not liking something and thinking it's bad.

So wait, id rather see a good bad movie, than a bad good one, right?

I think im no longer confused....

I'm in the same school as Lance. There are great movies that I don't like, but that I know are really good. It's impossible to make a case that The Godfather is a bad movie, but you can make a case that you don't like it. I didn't like shawshank, but it's a good movie. Gone Girl just sucked across the board.

Something like Starship Troopers was campy, cheesy and had silly plot and dialogue, but it was fucking awesome!

I saw Dunkirk in IMAX and it was great. I wouldn't want to see it at home or even in a conventional theater. It is the type of movie whose effectiveness is directly proportional to the size of the screen (52' x 72' for IMAX).

Shitty?

Absolutely not.

Limited by the context of presentation?

Yes

Addendum:

I went out on a boat to scatter a relatives ashes 2 hours after seeing it.

I refused to go below deck.

Every movie written and directed by Gen X-ers sucks.

Donald Trump: The White House Years

Donald Trump: The White House Years Days

Much more likely title.

Chariots Of Fire-consisted almost entirely of 2 hours of dudes running on the beach to that shitty Vangelis song.  Somehow it won the best picture, over more worthy candidates like Raiders Of The Lost Ark.

Rocky.

All seven of them.

Lincoln (co staring Sally Field) is very bad movie, that I will never complete watching.

Bram Stoker's Dracula was the worst flaming shitpile of horrendous writing and acting I've ever seen, and to this day I still hear people gush about it.

The Matrix was totally lost on me. I'm not sure if it's because the movie is shitty or that I'm shitty.

No, no.  Keanu Reeves is shitty.

Happy to clear that up for you.

Even the Absolute Krappiest Movie with John Candy is still OK,  because John Candy is in there.

And he was in some gawdawful ones,  but he "got some good lines" and was Funny.

Had he gotten the Obesity under control,  that Fine Fellow might be in the Cinema today.

May the Lords Bless You,  Mr. John Candy.  angel

I'm with you, Blues. The dude's best roles were in Bill and Ted and Parenthood, and he wasn't expected to really speak much in either of those.

>>>Bram Stoker's Dracula was the worst flaming shitpile of horrendous writing and acting I've ever seen

Saw that at the theater and dropped acid.  Thought it was great, but for the last 30 minutes or so, I had no clue what was going on.  Maybe it wasn't the acid after all.

Was Dances With Wolves that good? I hated it.

And Titanic - are you kidding me? What the hell was so good about that one?

uggg, i hated titanic..

Yeah, Titanic sucked.

Slack, The Godfather movies sucked?   Really?  GF One might have been the best movie ever made.

The vignettes of Vito in part 2 are interesting. The rest is boring.

^^^^Titanic was terrible, Dances w Wolves is great...

Thought the Matrix was bad...never watched another....same w Mission Impossible...just terrible

What it sci fi movie that came out last year or two w alien ships landing all over world? Movie was ssoooooo bad, ive erased the title of film from my brain

That's why I asked, Jam, I'm not a huge fan of Costner, and that clouds my ability to see a movie on its own value.

Every Tom Cruise movie ever made.

 Star Wars

Rainman was great ^^

Kmart sux

Don't forget Cocktail.

It would be great to watch a film co-starring Kostner and Nicolas Cage. Maybe not.

Another for me was Avatar. Once you got past all the special effects and shit like that, the plot was a recycled cowboy and Indian movie.,

Ya mean all the ground breaking effects filmed w cameras and equipment invented just for THAT movie?

Ya, once you get past the visually mind blowing parts...its just a good flik...put em together??

Cant wait for dec 2018 and the Underwater World of 2.

They actually had to wait cpl years for the technology to be ready for the vision Cameron had...might not like the guy, or his earlier work...but, this is his life s work...spent 18 years on the concept etc

Avatar was the worst.

Star Wars Trilogy vs. Lord Of The Rings Trilogy:
